Revisiting These Jewel Toned Summer Silk Wedding Flowers

I love that even though I created today’s featured wedding flowers 3 years ago, the jewel tone color palette is still as popular as ever! You can mix and match the deep, rich colors and it can work for any season!

I love, love, loved doing these wedding flowers! Bride Catherine gave me her color palette and her permission to get creative with her bouquets, and her arrangements turned out stunning. These jewel toned summer silk wedding flowers were a mix of moody and bright colors with texture and greens for a unique look that worked for her summer wedding.

A huge thanks to these amazing images from their photographer Precious Pics!

Catherine’s handtied style round bridal bouquet was a mix of plum Tea Roses, navy Delphinium, yellow Ranunculus, orange Hydrangea, plum Poppies, orange Ranunculus, burgundy Roses, dusty pink Peonies, Blueberries and mixed greenery.

The bridesmaids carried clutch size bouquets with just a few of the flowers from the bridal bouquet, but in the same loose handtied style. All the bouquets were finished off with burlap wrap on the stems.

I can’t say enough positive things about Love is Blooming. I had always loved the idea of a bold, jewel tone colored bouquet. However the quotes from local florists were wayyy out of our budget. I had almost given up when I came across Love is is Blooming. Erin was very responsive and did such good job listening to what I wanted while also adding in her own experience. The end result was exactly what I had been looking for at a fraction of the cost of a florist. She was even able to create a matching dog collar! I loved that I was able to get picture updates and make any adjustments before getting them and it was one less thing to have to worry about on the big day! Everyone, both guests and venue staff, at the wedding were shocked when they realized they were fake flowers as no one could tell until they were up close. Plus, my bridesmaids were so happy to be able to keep their flowers after the wedding. I am so incredibly grateful and highly recommend Love is Blooming to anyone looking for wedding flowers.
— Catherine | Maryland

The groom’s boutonniere was a burgundy Rose, yellow Ranunculus, a bit of Hydrangea, Blueberries and matching greenery with a twine wrap on the stems.

Catherine had a lot of loved ones surrounding her on her big day and they all had a custom silk flower wedding arrangement. Even her precious pup got a custom silk flower dog collar to wear during the celebration.

Are jewel tones your jam? Love the moodier colors but getting married in the spring or summer? Let’s talk!

Revisiting This Minneapolis Silk Wedding Flower Arrangement

I last shared a wedding with you of jewel toned silk wedding flowers and noted the popularity over the last few years. Today, I want to show you a color scheme that is still going strong. From the start of my business in 2005 until today (almost 20 years later!), pink and blue has been a winning choice! It’s feminine, it’s masculine, it’s class and it’s romantic. Let’s take a look at Ying’s custom silk wedding flowers in blue, pink and white!

If you follow awesome brides, like Ying, you may remember her gorgeous light blue, blush and ivory silk wedding flowers, just sent me some shots and a great review! Her silk bridal bouquet and silk bridesmaids bouquets added so much to her wedding and wedding photos.

Revisiting This Wedding Day Reveal of Silk Flowers

Today we are revisiting a moment in time that could included great joy when things were just…hard! I love that Rachel has this moment to look back on with fondness, no matter what else was going on in the world! One thing I didn’t talk about in my original post was what was in the arrangements. As you scroll down to see them, you’ll see the bouquets made up of Hydrangea, Dahlia, Tulips, Ruscus, and plum Astilbe in the bridesmaid bouquets. The bridal bouquet was a modified cascade style with those flowers plus Roses, Ranunculus, Seedum and Fern. I love that she chose a bouquet that was quite a bit different than the bridesmaids. Let’s take a look at this awesome wedding from 2020!

There is nothing sweeter than getting to see my flowers out in “the wild.” I spend time chatting and designing with each client and then I send their silk wedding flowers off to their Happily Ever After. Rachel sent me some shots from her wedding with her bridal bouquet that made me gasp and slap my husband on the arm as I pointed at my phone screen.

These breathtaking images were taken by the very talented MVphotos. 20 Year Old Silk Bridal Bouquet

Today, I’m taking a little time off because my husband and I jetted off to Hawaii for an early celebration of our 20th anniversary! This week, I wanted to show you a photo from our wedding day, June 12, 2004, and show you my same bouquet…almost 20 years later! Perhaps this will convince you of the lasting quality of a silk bridal bouquet!

Mills Photography- Niles, Michigan

Our wedding took place in my hometown of Bridgman, Michigan so my bouquet came with me to the beach for outdoor photos, back to the church for the indoor portraits, got toted around our reception, then traveled back to Minnesota after our honeymoon and 10 years later moved from one house to another. Let’s take a look at what it looks like today!

My Aunt Finessa taught me how to arrange silk flowers and not only was it a great help, it also saved us lots of money! My mom and I went shopping and found the perfect roses for my pink and yellow color scheme. I made a handtied, round style bouquet with the prettiest peachy pink roses that had some yellow in them. I used sheer ribbon to do a criss-cross pattern on the stems and did some ribbon loops up underneath the flowers to finish it off. My bouquet still looks like it did the day I said, “I do!”

Do you love the idea of having a bouquet that you don’t have to be careful with, that you know will look good for every minute of your wedding day, that you won’t have to dry or preserve to have a beautiful keepsake? Then custom silk wedding flowers might be just what you are looking for. Fill out the Free Bride’s Checklist today for a quote!

Friday the 13th Silk Wedding Flowers - Part 2

As promised, here’s part 2 of Amanda’s gothic Friday the 13th wedding. While this part of the celebrations didn’t take part on Friday the 13th, it was just as special and unique an event for our couple. And lest I fail to mention it, custom silk wedding flowers are perfect for this scenario! Amanda was able to bring her bouquet out in weather for their vow exchange in St. Paul, not have to worry about rain for photos and then pack it up and travel to South Dakota and hike up to some stunning locations for their private ceremony and photos! Whether you are having two ceremonies, eloping, a traditional destination wedding or want your flowers to survive any kind of weather, custom silk wedding flowers are the most versatile and hardy option out there. Now that I’m off my soap box, let’s see more amazing photos from Winsome Photography!

Can you have a more picturesque kiss than this one? I don’t know how far they had to hike to find these locations, but they look flawless in their wedding attire!

Erin was amazing to work with! She was able to understand our vision and truly surpassed our expectations. She incorporated all the little details we wanted into them - including a fake raven skull for my husbands boutonniere. She was also able to make a flower collar for our new puppy that was adjustable since she was still growing. In additional to all of that, the flowers also traveled extremely well! We used them for a small ceremony in St. Paul, MN and again for a private vow exchange in South Dakota. We HIGHLY recommend Erin and are so glad we went with her. We are able to cherish our wedding florals forever now!

Blush and White Destination Silk Wedding Flowers - Reveal and Review

Back in July, I shared photos of a pretty little bridal bouquet I made for Heather. I needed to post an update once Heather sent me her professional photos because they are STUNNING! From her vintage inspired dress to the colorful back grounds, these photos are inspiring! The amazing images are by Andi Artigue .Let’s take a look at Heather’s silk flowers for a Vegas destination wedding!

Heather sent me inspiration photos that included roses, orchids and a few tropical accents. She originally wanted all white but decided to add in some blush for contrast. Her asymmetrical cascade bridal bouquet included white Phalaenopsis Orchids, white and nude pink Garden Roses, white Baby’s Breath and blush pink Anthurium. We planned for a smaller bouquet to accommodate her travel needs, but as you can see this bouquet was still high impact despite it’s smaller size.

So happy I found Love Is Blooming to create my custom silk bouquet!

Erin was great. She worked with my (many) inspo pictures to pick out all of the flowers and other elements that I wanted. She also helped me pick out the right size and shape since I would be flying with my bouquet and was worried about how to transport something more traditional.

She was super responsive and provided several updates to the status of my bouquet and asked for feedback before shipping (I didn’t have any as her creation was perfect and more than everything I envisioned).

Erin truly made something that could have been very stressful so easy and I would recommend her business to anyone!
— Heather | Texas

Heather’s dress was a beautiful lace number, so we matched that look with soft pink satin ribbon wrapped with lace and trailing lace tales. It goes with her dress so well!

My daughter was finishing her senior year of college and really had no idea of flower design other than she wanted fake flowers. I was disappointed she wasn’t going for real ones, but I started researching for her and came across Erin’s site, Love is Blooming. After looking at ideas for color and style, I sent the ideas to my daughter to choose what she liked. Then I contacted Erin and shared with her Hannah’s choices. Erin was very friendly and so easy to work with her. The finished product was so beyond what I had expected, and I was beyond thrilled at the gorgeous results. From the boutonnières to the wrist corsages to the bouquets for the bridal party, every one of them looked real and so very beautiful that I was brought to tears. I highly recommend Erin and her high quality of work You will not be disappointed.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

2021 is shaping up to be my busiest year yet! With 23 weddings already booked for 2021, I looked around and realized we were living in a sea of silk wedding flower boxes. With all those boxes taking up space in our office, bedroom, and garage, I knew it was time to make a change.

I’m excited to announce the new headquarters of Love Is Blooming Silk Wedding Flowers….my backyard!

silk-wedding-flower-workshop-bridal-bouquets

My studio is still in the process of being insulated and power run to it, but I’m excited to have a space where the creative juices can flow starting this spring. And it sure is nice to that all the flower boxes have their own happy home.

So maybe you just did the math and realized that 23 weddings means that over half the weekends of the year are already booked for me. Is it too late to book your custom silk wedding flowers???

Absolutely not! That’s the awesome thing about silk wedding flowers, it doesn’t limit me as to how many weddings I create for a specific wedding date. I have a few wedding dates booked with 2-4 weddings scheduled for that same weekend. But each bride has chosen a different time frame to receive their flowers. So whether you want your flowers days, weeks or months ahead of time, I can work with you on your fully custom silk wedding flowers. If you are interested in finding out more, fill out the Free Bride’s Checklist for a quote and to receive specific flower ideas.

Dusty Blue and Ivory Silk Bridal Bouquet and Maid of Honor Bouquet

Small weddings are all the rage right now. Whether that’s a result of Covid-19 or couples reevaluating what they want their dream wedding to be like, I’m doing more and more custom silk bridal bouquets for weddings with just one or two bridesmaids, or none at all! And since things are changing left and right for what can be celebrated and when, there has never been a better time to order flowers that DON’T DIE! I’ve already been able to help out several couples who’s wedding plans had to change and the best part is that they still get beautiful flowers, whenever their wedding ends up happening.

Kayla emailed me looking for her bouquet and a matching one for her Maid of Honor. She had a few inspiration photos and with a little input from me we came up with this bright and light design.

The bridal bouquet consisted of blue Hydrangea, ivory Roses and Calla Lilies, and greens. Kayla wanted to include some bling, so I added individual rhinestones into the bouquet and tied it off with silver ribbon.

I ordered my bridal and maid of honor bouquet after dealing with so many florists. I decided to go with Love is Blooming and holy cow they came out amazing! Erin did an amazing job, she kept me informed, and gave me ideas on what would look good and what wouldn’t. I am so beyond happy with how they turned out.
— Kayla | Minnesota

The matching Maid of Honor bouquet was a smaller version of Kayla’s bridal bouquet, down to the rhinestones and ribbon.

Cascading Silk Bridal Bouquet with Purple Flowers

Purple is an awesome color and looks fantastic in weddings of all seasons. Lighter tones look great for summer and spring and darker tones work well in fall and winter. And you really can’t go wrong by using darker and lighter tones together for silk wedding flowers and bridal bouquets. Take Wendy’s bouquet for example. Her cascading silk bridal bouquet included Peonies, Roses and Calla Lilies in shades of white and ivory along with Violets in a deeper purple and Lavender in, well, lavender. She liked the idea of some greenery in there, so we added a few varieties including Fern, Rosemary sprigs and Ficus for a very timeless look.

Wendy also needed two custom altar arrangements with silk wedding flowers for her ceremony. She already had 2 quart Mason jars she planned to use for the vases, so I created two of these matching arrangements to just drop into her jars on the big day.

If you want to see other examples of purple incorporated into silk wedding flowers, check these out:

Silk Bridal Bouquet Recreation in High Contrast Colors

There’s a lot going on in our world right now with COVID-19. I know of many florists who are unable to fill orders due to recommended safety precautions preventing receiving and delivering flowers. My heart goes out to small businesses across the country as well as couples who may be considering postponing their wedding until a later date. If you are in a situation where things are uncertain, but you still intend to keep the wedding planning going, contact me to find out how you can plan ahead and still have your dream wedding flowers when your big day comes around.

I’ts also never too early to think about your anniversary gift giving. There is something really eye catching about high contrast colors in a bridal bouquet and wedding flowers. This silk bridal bouquet recreation is a great example of that. And if you aren’t looking for a recreation, this is a great way to see how some bright, fun colors can be playful and still look “bridal.”

With a combination of ivory Roses and Peonies , lime green Button Mums, and royal purple Statice, this bridal bouquet in silk flowers would be great for spring, summer or for a fun twist in fall or winter.

Champagne, Ivory, Gray and Dusty Blue Silk Wedding Flowers

Haley’s gorgeous wedding flowers were so fun to design. She loved the idea of incorporating some champagne wedding flowers into her silk bridal bouquet to match her dress which was ivory and champagne with beading. Her guys were going to be all in gray and the bridesmaids would be in dusty blue, so we wanted to find ways to make it all go together for a very soft and lush look.

This modified cascade style bridal bouquet was stunning. The dahlias, roses, baby’s breath, lamb’s ear and gray winter berries were just the right amount of texture and soft colors to stand out in a crowd.

The bridesmaid bouquets were almost all ivory with roses and baby’s breath but at the last minute Haley wanted to add in some gray Brunia Berries for a little contrast. We used the lamb’s ear again to soften it up around the edges so they weren’t too round of bouquets. Haley really wanted the bouquets to look looser and less formal in their shape. So adding the lamb’s ear at opposite edges and asymmetrically really did the trick.

The cute little toss bouquet matched the bridal bouquet.

Champagne can be a tricky color, not too peachy, or pinky or pale; just the right amount of color. Maybe your dress isn’t the traditional bridal white. Not a problem! Contact me today to work on design ideas.

Merry Christmas!

How can I get a bridal bouquet recreated into silk wedding flowers?

Several times a week I get a question about silk bridal bouquets similar to the title of this blog post. Whether it’s from a former bride, a husband, a daughter or whoever, they are all on the hunt for the perfect anniversary/Valentine’s/Christmas gift. So if you’re wondering how the process works, here’s a quick rundown about how I make silk wedding flower recreations.

Step 1.

Send me your clearest photos of the bouquet from as many angles as you have. You’d be surprised what might have been hiding in a bouquet that you wouldn’t see from just one photo. Happen to have the invoice from your florist? Bonus points for you if you send that along as well. After I track down all the flowers I would need, I send you an exact cost, including tax and/or shipping so you can make your decision.

Step 2.

After placing the order, wait just a little while for some photos to show up in your inbox. After starting to create the bouquet, I’ll take a few shots so you can see how it’s coming together. That’s the point where I can make minor adjustments to get it juuuuuuust right. Once the ribbon is on, and it’s finished up, you’ll get your final set of photos.

Step 3.

Start planning your big moment, because once your box shows up, you’ll have a hard time waiting to give it to her!

As you can see from these awesome recreations below, they don’t have to look like a traditional, or simple, or common bouquet. If you unusual textures, hard to find flowers, or custom colors, it doesn’t mean it can’t be done! Contact me today to find out how you can get a custom bridal bouquet recreation in silk flowers for your upcoming celebration.
