Burgundy, White and Green Winter Wedding Flowers - Reveal and Review

I know it’s just newly spring, but if you looked around outside here in Minnesota, it still looks like a winter wonderland. So in the spirit of sucking it up, here’s a lovely winter wedding to share with you! Bride Kasey was looking for burgundy, white and green winter silk wedding flowers. I love to do winter bouquets because you can do some unique mixes of greenery, and it’s always a fun challenge to keep them from looking too Christmas-y. Kasey sent me some lovely photos by her very talented photographer Sapphire Heart Photography. Let’s take a look!

Kasey’s bridal bouquet was a round handtied style with a mix of white Garden and Cabbage Roses, burgundy Dahlia and Astilbe, white Seeds, Dusty Miller, Silver Dollar Eucalyptus and Cedar. It was lush, a little wild, and perfect for her wedding day.

She wanted her bouquet to stand out from the rest, so for the bridesmaids we simplified the look to include only white Garden and Cabbage Roses with seeds and the same mix of greenery. They really popped against their dark green velvet dresses!

Erin is amazing! Communicative, and punctual. She really takes the time to figure out exactly what you want. I recommend her to EVERYONE I know getting married. You will not be disappointed with her work! Just check the photos and you will see how incredible she is!

Green and White Winter Wedding - Reveal and Review

Today, I get to share bride Melisa’s green and white winter wedding flowers. She lives in my neck of the woods which made it extra fun. I work with brides all over the country, so when I get a local bride, it’s extra special because I get to meet them in person when they pick up their flowers!

(“Wait, I don’t get to see my flowers beforehand?” Fear not, happy bride, you do! I send photos during the production process so you get to see how they are coming along. That way, when you pick them up, or open your box, there are no surprises…of the bad kind anyways.)

Back to Melisa’s flowers! These amazing photos are by the very talented Eric Vest Photography. If you are a Twin Cities resident, check him out for your upcoming wedding!

Here is our beautiful bride Melisa. And brave might I add for taking outdoor photos during a Minnesota winter! Her round handtied bridal bouquet was a mix of Roses, Ranunculus, Dusty Miller and Boxwood greens. It was simple, elegant, and gave winter vibes without being too on-the-nose.

The groom’s boutonniere was a Ranunculus, greens and Dusty Miller.

Erin was super easy to work with. I felt a lot of relief knowing that I’d get to see the flowers along the way, although Erin was amazing at understanding my vision and I didn’t need any revisions! I would highly recommend her, everything turned out better than imagined and pricing was very reasonable!
— Melisa | Minnesota

We kept things cohesive with the bridal party and made smaller versions of the bridal bouquet for the bridesmaids to carry and stuck with a Ranunculus and greens for the groomsmen. Slight differences set apart the bridal bouquet and groom’s boutonniere, but sometimes that’s all you need!

I love the way Melisa is looking at her new husband!

Melisa’s friend had gotten married at this venue not long before her, so she knew what décor would look good there. She helped me design this 90” long garland for the mantel of the fireplace. It incorporated the same Boxwood greenery along with a mix of white Garden and Spray Roses.

The venue provided simple vases for centerpieces and Melisa had another great idea to do a simple ring of greenery and roses to tie it all together. It was a great way to brighten up the tables without taking anything away from the romantic glow of the candles.

One of the things I always recommend to brides who need to stretch their décor: purchase vases that your bouquets can just drop into and use them at the head table (like Melisa did) or around your reception area. Some other great places to have your bouquets do double duty are the cake table, gift table, cocktail tables, or if you have a smaller amount of guests, use them as your centerpieces!

Thanks again to Eric Vest Photography for his excellent work. If you have a winter wedding but aren’t into some of the more traditional accents, let’s talk about how to make it happen. Fill out the Free Bride’s Checklist today!

Winter Silk Bridal Bouquet Recreation - Reveal and Review

Having a December birthday, I have a little bit of a chip on my shoulder about all things winter. But winter silk wedding flowers are starting to become some of my favorite! It’s almost easier to add a little bit of magic and shine like this wedding, or go a bit more wild and whimsical like this wedding, or maybe soft and romantic speaks to you like this wedding. Whatever you are warming up to, take a look at this great example of way to combine traditional “winter” elements to a bridal bouquet that is lush, full, textural and just so pretty!

Jennifer contacted me about recreating her custom bouquet, originally designed and created by Blue Ivy Flowers of Rossville, Georgia. And it was a stunner! A combination of blush Cabbage and Garden Roses, white Spray Roses, blue Thistle, white Hypericum Berries, Cedar, Cypress, Evergreen, Seeded Eucalyptus and Brunia Berries in a loose handtied style bouquet. It was important that we included all the elements as closely as possible (I couldn’t get as delicate with the Thistle as the original) but also duplicate the feel and style of the bouquet. With something as full and varied as Jennifer’s bouquet, that can be a challenge!

These two (above/below) images are from their very talented photographer out of Chattanooga, Tennessee: Jennifer Anderson Photography. Check them out if you are in that area and want amazing wedding photos:)

Silk Winter Wedding Flowers

Tomorrow is the official first day of winter, but it’s been cold and snowy here in Minnesota for a few weeks already. I shared some more summer-y flowers last week, so I thought I better give custom winter wedding flowers some space on the blog, since there’s not much left of this December!

Meghan hired me to create custom silk wedding flowers for her upcoming New Year’s Eve wedding. I wanted to give her the rich colors of a winter theme without it looking like Christmas. Let’s start with her modified cascade silk bridal bouquet.

Meghan’s bouquet was a mix of burgundy Roses and Peonies, white Ranunculus, a few Pinecones, Cedar boughs, Silver Dollar Eucalyptus and gray Dusty Miller. The asymmetrical cascade is going to look good at any angle your photographer decides to shoot from.

The bridesmaid clutch bouquets were a simple mix of a single burgundy Peony, a few Ranunculus, Dusty Miller and a mix of the greenery in that same loose handtied style.

I had the BEST experience working with Erin! I only had the vaguest idea of what I was looking for for my New Year’s Eve wedding and she brought such elegant creativity to my wedding preparations. She was so patient with all my questions, provided photos throughout the process, and was all around a pleasure. Her talent and skill is obvious and she is the most affordable silk flower florist I have encountered. The bouquets were delivered with the utmost care in packaging they look stunningly real. Thank you, Erin!
— Meghan | Massachusetts

The groom’s boutonniere was a burgundy Rose, white Ranunculus and greenery, tied off with matching black ribbon.

Winter Wonderland Blush Pink Silk Wedding Flowers

Earlier this week I showed you a white and green color palette that was so very romantic, but today I’m upping the romance ante’. I introduce you to Mike the wonder-husband! Mike was ordering the flowers as a surprise for his bride-to-be. He had a few inspiration photos but let me me make some creative suggestions as we worked together to come up with a truly custom look for January wedding.

This magnificent bridal bouquet was a modified cascade style with tons of Dusty Miller, ivory Roses, blush pink Billy Buttons, blush pink Berries and a few large focal point flowers of “snow” covered Dahlia in blush pink. This bouquet was so dreamy, and so not your typical winter wedding bouquet. We left out the green and red and even the evergreen branches typical of this season.

Mike ordered two pin on corsages for his fiancee’s daughters to wear and went simple for his groom’s boutonniere with an ivory Rose, Berries, and Dusty Miller.

They planned to have a small reception at a restaurant in downtown Minneapolis and he wanted a custom centerpiece for each table. Rather than a solid vase, Mike had the great idea to do clear vases with fake snow in them. It was a charming way to embrace the time of year here in the Twin Cities.

If you are planning a winter wedding but don’t want to go the “Christmas colors” route, contact me today to talk unique ideas for your winter wedding.

Wild Winter Wedding with Silk Wedding Flowers

I thought this post would be a good kickoff to the official first day of winter! With Christmas right around the corner, I wanted to show you something that captures the spirit of winter without being all, “Hey, I’m a Christmas bouquet!”

They say snowflakes are all different, so why can’t wedding flowers? I get the luxury of coming up with custom designs for my brides. There are no books of silk wedding flower packages to limit you to. If you can dream it, I can do it!

I feel like Emily’s flowers fall into this category. She wanted a wild, winter look for her December wedding flowers with twigs, branches, pussy willow, mistletoe and pops of jewel tones to accent her green wedding dress.

Her bouquet was another “may appear bigger in real life” bouquet that is just magical. The blue thistle pays homage to her fiance’s Scottish background, and the bits of burgundy Eucalyptus keep this bouquet on the warmer side of becoming too frosty.

Herer’s the toss bouquet that matches the bridal bouquet in a simpler style.

We went a little different route with the bridesmaid bouquets. Instead of them closely matching the bridal bouquet, we used more of the burgundy with some Calla lilies, along with the white Freesia, blue Thistle, Boxwood, Pussy Willow, and Mistletoe.

The boutonnieres and corsages used a little bit of everything so that we could customize some of the personal flowers based on who would be wearing them.

Burgundy Cascade Silk Wedding Flower Review

After posting Janelle’s amazing raspberry and blush silk wedding flowers, the requests have poured in for quotes for similar style bouquets and color combinations. I love hearing from all of you who are looking for unique takes on burgundy flowers, modified cascade bouquets and how to add interesting texture to your custom silk wedding flowers.

For those of you checking me out for the first time, I wanted to share the photos Janelle sent me from her wedding day. She looks stunning, as do her bridesmaids! And I gotta say, her flowers looked great in front of the camera too. So if you’ve been wondering how silk wedding flowers compare to fresh, here’s a great look at how versatile and realistic they actually are.

These beautiful images were taken by Empiria Studios right here in Minneapolis. Check them out if you are looking for a great local photographer.

These ladies were brave for these photos, but these shots were worth some shivers!

Janelle came to me during the design process with an idea for her centerpieces. She was planning to do chargers with candles and wanted some matching greens and roses for each table. I used some of the same seeded Eucalyptus branches from the bouquets and bundled them up with some of the roses so that whoever her decorator was could just grab a bundle and arrange each table. This was a great, budget-friendly option that also fit well with Janelle’s overall style and theme.

Love is Blooming was fantastic to work with!! My flowers were so beautiful and Erin was so great to work with. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for beautiful flowers on their big day!

Thrilled Bride Shares Her Feedback on her Designer Silk Wedding Flowers

Remember Rachel's beautiful cascade bouquet for her January wedding?  If not, check out this blog post featuring the flowers, and this blog post with some pictures she sent over.

Rachel was kind enough to send me her thoughts about working with me and her experience with designing custom silk wedding flowers.  I wanted to pass it along because sometimes it takes hearing it from someone else to feel confident when deciding on wedding vendors for your big day.

"Working with Erin was amazing and I'd recommend her to anyone and everyone! I'll admit I wasn't completely sold on silk flowers, but since we were having a December wedding we thought it would be for the best. And I'm so glad we went this route! Erin had creative ideas and she was very flexible with working within our budget. The best part was being able to see the pictures as a work in progress - you would definitely not be able to do this with real flowers. Erin took my ideas and ran with them to make gorgeous bouquets that I couldn't have even dreamed of. Some of our guests even commented on how real the flowers looked!
If you're looking to use silk flowers, Erin is definitely your gal. She's quick to respond to inquiries, she's fair with her pricing, she's flexible, helpful, and very friendly."

Thanks again to Rachel and her new hubby for choosing Love Is Blooming.  Want to hear from more of my happy brides? Hop on over to my recommendations page and see what the other gals are saying.

Peonies in Action!

I was in love with Briana's silk wedding flowers--anyone that came over while I was working on these beauties had to put up with my gushing for a few minutes as I showed them off. They photograph beautifully, they stand out in any setting, and they are my favorite flower--trifecta!

This tantalizing eye candy is brought to you by the ever-so-talented Agape Moments Photography out of Oak Grove, Minnesota. Be sure and browse their site to see more!

I love the vintage look of this shot--seems pretty timeless!

Don't they look perfect even with the snow?! Who woulda thought?

Thank you so much for your wonderful work! They were absolutely perfect and we received lots of compliments on them! I couldn't be happier:)

Sincerely,
Briana

Thanks again to Briana for trusting me with her silk wedding flowers and to Agape Moments Photography for such beautiful work.

Peonies in...Winter?

One of the great things about silk wedding flowers is that you don't have wait until a type of flower is in season and you don't have to fork over a big chunk of change to get out of season flowers.

Briana contacted me and wanted the big fluffy pink Peonies that you see in all the bridal magazines. Her girls were wearing Peacock colored dresses, an up and coming color trend for 2012. She wanted flowers that were really going to stand out against their dresses and she didn't care one bit that her flower of choice is usually a spring/summer flower. I breathed a sigh of relief knowing I could get exactly what she wanted. And I gotta say, I love a bride that marches to her own beat! I thought these bouquets were absolutely gorgeous and I loved that she didn't go with a typical winter theme for her January 21st wedding.
Bridal Bouquet

We took an "opposite" approach to the bridesmaid bouquets. The Bridal bouquet had mostly pink, so the bridesmaids carried mostly white. We also changed up the ribbon color and wrap length to give it a slightly different style.

Bridesmaid Bouquet

As you might notice, peonies are pretty large; too large for any of the personal flowers. Check back to see how we incorporated such a fluffy shape in the boutonnieres and corsages. And then after that, I have some B-E-A-Utiful pictures from Briana's gorgeous winter wedding. You won't want to miss it!
