Daughter's Gift Bouquet Recreation - Reveal and Review

As I mentioned in last week’s post, destination weddings often require you to leave your beautiful bouquet behind. Linda reached out to me for that very reason. Her daughter had been married in the Bahamas this spring and was not allowed to bring her bouquet home with her. She wanted to gift her a custom bridal bouquet recreation in silk flowers so she would have something to enjoy at home. Let’s take a look at the original alongside the recreation!

Her daughter’s bouquet was a mix of Orchids, Peonies, Calla Lilies, Anthurium, Fern, Palm Leaves and Monstera. The original bouquet had red Anthurium, but her daughter had wanted them to be pink. I was able to customize the bouquet for her to include pink Anthurium.

Hawaiian Bouquet Recreation - Reveal and Review

While we aren’t into the cold months of winter here in Minnesota, I wanted to share something to warm us up today! Tropical weddings are super popular in the winter months, and often times, if it’s a destination wedding, there is no option to bring your bouquet back home with you to enjoy. The good news is that you can have a custom bridal bouquet recreation made with high quality silk flowers so you can enjoy it forever! Andrew reached out to me about recreating his wife’s stunning tropical bridal bouquet in silk flowers for their anniversary. Let’s take a look at the original bouquet, designed and created by Kealoha Flowers and photographed by Julia Streich Photography.

One thing to work around with recreations is the editing that can be done on photos. As you can see from the above photos, there are some filters that affect the color. See the photo below for a more accurate example of the colors in the bouquet.

Her round, handtied bouquet was composed of: Ranunculus, King Protea, Ginger, Peony, Phalaenopsis Orchids, Spray Roses, Anthurium, Dusty Miller, Fern, Eucalyptus, Seedum and one show stopping Dracaena. I love the texture and colors!

Long Distance Wedding Planning - Reveal and Review

Many brides, myself included, find themselves planning a wedding from afar. When Sheree reached out to me, she shared that she was planning her Minnesota wedding from Canada. That certainly adds a layer of complication for some vendors, but it’s no problem when you’re ordering custom silk wedding flowers! Part of my process includes sending photos of specific flower and greenery options to help narrow down your favorites. And while I can’t give you an exact model of what your bouquet will look like, I have a wealth of photos on my blog for anyone to peruse. It’s a great source for seeing different shapes, color combinations, how silk flowers look in professional photos and to be inspired! Sheree and I worked over email for a while, and we also planned an in-person consultation for a future visit. We were able to meet, discuss options, and finalize her designs in person. But if that’s not an option for you, don’t fret! About 60% of the weddings I do are from a distance, so you’ll be in good company!

But let’s move on to the good stuff! Here are Sheree’s photos from Becca Dilley Photography of her wedding at Nicollet Island Inn here in Minneapolis!

Let me introduce you to Sheree, my delightful and beautiful bride! She was so fun to work with and was open to suggestion for bridal bouquet. What we landed on was a mix of Ranunculus, Anemone, Mums, Delphinium, Cosmos, Astilbe, Thistle, Blueberries, Lamb’s Ear and Eucalyptus. I really loved the contrast of the dark Anemone centers and the Blueberries against the white and dusty blue.

The groom’s boutonniere feature an Anemone, blue Cosmos and Lamb’s Ear.

Ben and Sheree had a small bridal party. Her bridesmaid carried a clutch style bouquet with a Ranunculus, Delphinium, Lamb's Ear, Thistle and a touch of Eucalyptus. The groomsman’s boutonniere was a Ranunculus, Thistle and Lamb's Ear.

Sheree wanted coordinating flowers for the reception area. I designed a small spray for the head table along with small centerpieces for the guest tables. It brought a her colors along with her floral and greenery elements to the reception area in a very classy way.

I didn’t make the flower girl wands, but I wanted to show you what Sheree created! She purchased some extra flowers and crafted these adorable flower girl heart wands for the girls to carry. I love that these personalized wands are an accent to her wedding and a sweet gift to the flower girls.

I know it’s technically not fall yet, but summer break is over for us. School is back in session, the days aren’t so hot anymore, the sun is setting a little earlier and there’s lots to look forward to. My family had a wonderful summer filled with swimming, hiking, backyard games, bonfires and travel. We’re part way through June, my kids have been out of school for a few weeks and we’ve already got one of our summer trips under our belts. But there is still plenty of summer for me to enjoy with my family and that means it’s time for a summer blogging break! I’ll still be working away at my order for summer and fall and I might pop in with a few blog updates here and there, but I’m looking forward to sharing more reveals with you when I’m back in September! Adjusting a Bouquet Recreation - Reveal and Review

Bouquet recreations usually end up being a bit of a creative adventure for me. Today’s bouquet is a great example of that. Griselda reached out to me about her bouquet which was a beautiful combination of white and coral flowers…or were they purple…maybe pink? She had sent me a variety of photos, some from her beautiful professional photos with edited colors, some without, and then an edited photo that she felt best represented the actual colors of the bouquet. I’ve included some of those today so you can see how sometimes the photos need some deciphering. Let’s take a look at her beautiful bouquet created by Flower Creations by Reydon Laparan on Facebook and photographed by Douie Figuracion Photography on Facebook alongside the bouquet recreation that we made a few adjustments to.

Griselda had a great record of what was used in her bouquet and was able to send me the exact components: white Statice, Limonium, white and pink Lisianthus and Orange Jasmine greenery. One adjustment we made right away was to reduce the overall size for shipping purposes. Secondly, I wasn’t able to find a Limonium in silk flowers, but I did find a lavender Statice that Griselda was happy with. Despite looking far and wide, sometimes I can’t find exactly what was used in the original bouquet and in those instances, you get to decide if you are ok with that or not. Sometimes, the switch keeps the overall look intact without it being exact. Other times it’s a compromise and isn’t what the client is happy with. And as I say, frequently, that’s the great thing about silk flowers. I can show you ahead of time exactly what I’m using so there are no surprises with your finished product.

These next comparison photos show why working together on your bouquet recreation is super important. I absolutely love the editing done to Griselda’s wedding photo and wish my 2004 wedding photos had some of this creativity. But you can see the difference in colors and why it took some discussion to find the right color Lisianthus.

Butterfly Pavilion Wedding Flowers - Reveal

Audrey reached out to me about her spring wedding that was taking place inside a butterfly house! There were a few things to work around for her wedding flowers. The Butterfly pavilion had some specific guidelines to protect the butterflies including: nothing living or once living could be brought inside. She had already picked out Sola wood centerpieces for her reception, but wanted something special and complementary for her bouquet, and a few boutonnieres and corsages. Let’s take a look at these photos by Authentic Moments Photography by Andrew Miner.

Audrey’s bouquet was a loose, round handtied style bouquet with a mix of raspberry and plum Poppies, blush Peonies and Roses, raspberry Tea Roses, Lavender, purple Hydrangea, Mums and Dahlia, Eucalyptus and Ruscus. I love when I get to do something less common for ribbon and Audrey was game for incorporating two colors-sheer white and satin Rosewater. They complemented her dress beautifully and set her bouquet apart even more!

Audrey was very thoughtful about the colors that went into each arrangement. She did a great job picking out which flowers went in each boutonniere and corsage, based on what was in her bouquet. She made my job a piece of cake! This photo shows the groom’s bout and one of the mom’s wrist corsages. They all match!

Lavender and White Bridal Bouquet Recreation - Reveal and Review

Pretty often I hear stories of bouquet preservations gone wrong. Stephanie reached out to me about her stunning bouquet that met that very fate after her COVID wedding. I was excited to be able to bring it back to life with high quality silk flowers. Her custom bridal bouquet recreation turned out beautifully and even better is the fact that she now gets a special piece of her wedding day to remember forever! And now for my favorite part, let’s take a look at her recreation alongside her original bouquet by her florist Lace and Peonies and photographed by The Ruby Company.

Stephanie’s bouquet was a mix of Anemone, white Peonies, purple Lisianthus, lavender Freesia, lavender Roses, Mums and Pittosporrum. I couldn’t find an exact match for the mums and she suggested Dahlia, so we made that switch. As you can tell from the photo she sent, it doesn’t change the overall look or feel of the bouquet. Dahlias and mums are pretty similar shape, so it was a great suggestion and one that she was happy with!

I really love the vibe of this bouquet! It has some classic flowers, varying shades of purple, lots of texture and I love the contrast of the black center of the Anemone and the collar of greenery.

Lavender and White Bouquet Recreation - Reveal and Review

Today’s custom bridal bouquet recreation in silk flowers is lush and lovely lavender and white bouquet. I love it because the greenery plays a starring role in the design, but there are also some really classic white flowers and a touch of lavender. It’s a unique bouquet and it made for the perfect anniversary gift! Let’s take a look a the recreation alongside the original, shown in photographs by Solaris Photo and Film (find them on Instagram @solarisphotofilm).

Nick wanted to surprise his wife for the anniversary and he was able to help me with some high resolution photographs from a few angles. It allowed me to see all of the flowers and greenery that made up this beautiful bridal bouquet. You can see the dusty lavender Roses, white Camellia, Waxflower, white Spray Roses, Lisianthus and two varieties of Eucalyptus.

When you know the details: Bouquet Recreation - Reveal and Review

Most of the recreations that I create only have pictures for me to examine, and some come with an invoice or description from the florist. While that might seem like a winning combination, it’s not always helpful because fresh florists often make last minute substitutions based on availability, quality and cost. I know I’ve said it a lot on my blog, but one of the best things about custom silk wedding flowers is that you will know exactly what you are getting for your big day. There are never last minute substitutions or surprises.

Mychal reached out to me about a bouquet recreation for his April anniversary and sent me several photos of the bouquet along with list of what was in the bouquet. After comparing the photos to the list, it was a one of the closest matches I’ve seen yet! Let’s take a look at Mychal’s custom bridal bouquet recreation in silk flowers alongside the original in these photos from Jessica Wall Photography.

According to Mychal’s list this round handtied bridal bouquet was a mixture of Sandstone Roses, blush pink Roses, cream Mums, white Carnations, blue Hydrangea, blue Delphinium and blush pink Spray Roses. I also noticed white Baby’s Breath and Eucalyptus which Mychal agreed needed to be included to complete the look. It’s always helpful to have a few sets of eyes to look for all the different components.

Whether I get high resolution photos, screen shots or scanned images from old photos, I do my absolute best to recreate the bouquet as close to the original as possible.

White and Blush Bridal Bouquet Recreation - Reveal and Review

Zach’s April wedding anniversary was the perfect opportunity for him to gift his wife a custom bridal bouquet recreation in silk flowers. He sent me a few images of the bouquet and I got to work tracking down the perfect flowers to recreate her lovely bouquet. Let’s take a look at the bridal bouquet recreation alongside the original bouquet in photos from Jasmine Baetzel Weddings.

This beautiful bouquet was a mixture of white Garden Roses and white and blush Cabbage Roses with Ruscus. It was simple, it romantic and I loved that it wasn’t a traditional round ball shape. The elongated shape made it unique while still being a very classic look.

I could see from the photos that the original bouquet had the floral tape still showing with just a small band of ribbon with a small loop and tails. I suggested that we use a green satin ribbon to duplicate the style but give it a more polished look.

Summer Wedding Flower Inspiration

While I absolutely love to share photos from clients’ wedding day, sometimes I don’t get that opportunity. But it would be such a waste to not share those pretty bouquet with you on my blog! So today, I decided that since we are heading towards summer, I would share some photos of finished arrangements that might inspire you for your summer wedding.

This bouquet is for an upcoming June wedding, but I just couldn’t wait to share it with you, so this is her big debut! This bouquet is packed full of color and texture and features: Roses, Poppies, Orchids, Delphinium, Astilbe and a whole bunch of greenery. I love the pop of yellow!

Speaking of yellow, you can’t go wrong with this color combination-yellow and blue! This combination of yellow Roses, blue Hydrangea, Daisies and white Baby’s Breath is a classic summer look!

If you have a tropical wedding, this one is for you! This awesome bouquet is a mix of pink Anthurium, Ginger and Roses with a collar of Monstera, Palm and Banana leaves. Makes me want to stroll down a beach!

I love that the wildflower look is growing in popularity. This vibrant bouquet mixes a ton of color and texture and keeps your eye moving all over the bouquet. Every time you look at it, you see something new!

Pink never gets old! Especially when you do a mixture of blush, coral, watermelon and white together. It elevates the look from a simple pink bouquet to a handful of bright and happy!

The last bouquet I wanted to show you is a great bouquet for either summer or fall. It combines some lighter colors along with more saturated tones to be a good mix for either season. It allows the sunflowers to look bright and summery as well as rich and moody.

White and Blush Cherry Blossom Silk Wedding Flowers - Reveal and Review

I’m always excited to share weddings and each one is so unique to the couple. Today’s wedding has vintage vibes along with some high glamour and flower arrangements that were show stoppers! Samantha came to me with a vision to include Cherry Blossoms in her silk flower arrangements. Her venue was already going to incorporate Cherry Blossom trees, yes you read that right, TREES in her decor. It took some coordinating to narrow down the other flowers she wanted in her bouquets that would also match the decor flowers that would be installed on site. I’m so proud of being able to collaborate with Samantha to design bouquets that went so well with her decor flowers for her New York wedding! Enough talk, let’s see some amazing photos from the very talented Seven Son Photography.

Here’s our amazing couple! Their venue was stunning and gave me some Great Gatsby vibes with the richness of estate along with the awesome decor. Samantha’s bouquet was a smaller size handtied bouquet with a mix of white and pink Cherry Blossoms, Baby's Breath, Hydrangea, Spray Roses, Stephanotis, filler Seeds and Seeded Eucalyptus. The groom’s boutonniere was a couple of Spray Roses, Cherry Blossoms, a touch of Baby’s Breath and greenery.

The bridal party wore classic black and white attire and that is always the perfect backdrop for florals! The bridesmaids carried clutch style bouquets with a few white Rose buds, Baby’s Breath and a few branches of blush Cherry Blossoms.

The groomsmen’s bouts were a single Spray Rose with a touch of Cherry Blossoms. All of the boutonnieres were simple, but classic in style.

Now I want to show you some of their awesome floral decor. And despite the fact that I was not the creator, these arrangements needs to be seen. This is also a great example of blending in existing decor and floral arrangements with custom silk wedding flowers that you can order from me! Let’s start with the two arrangements that frame out the altar. I love that they don’t form a complete arch and that they are asymmetrical-such a creative design!

And look at this big, bad, Cherry Blossom tree! These were their centerpieces! Each table created a moment in their reception area. And I love it!

The last look at decor is something that I created, but isn’t something that was separate from their other silk flower arrangements. You can see that they used some of their bouquets on the cake table to add floral touches without needing to purchase a separate arrangement. I always recommend this for the head table, cake table, or anywhere else that needs a little something.

Petal Pink, Dusty Rose, Rose Gold & White Silk Wedding Flowers - Reveal Part 2

Back in January, I shared Emma’s beautiful custom silk wedding flowers in petal pink, dusty rose, rose gold and white. Today, I get to share even more photos with you that she sent me a few weeks ago. What’s fun about today’s reveal is that I get to show you a few more perspective shots of her ceremony and reception floral arrangements. While the photo above is featuring Emma and her beautiful attendants, you also get to see the rustic wooden arch that we softened up with two large floral arrangements-one for the corner and a linear piece for the opposite side beam. I love how they added the draped fabric to give it movement and more softness.

And in case you wanted to see another shot of the bouquets, here’s a closer view against the multiple shades of their dresses which I loved the look of!

This is a great view of the arch and the altar arrangements to give you an idea of scale and fullness. They are showstoppers, but they also blend into the background and complement the overall look of the ceremony site.

If we back up a bit and take a look at the overall vision for the space, you get to see the aisle arrangements! This is a newer design I’ve been doing more and more of. These larger arrangements sit flat on the ground at the end of your seating rows. It’s awesome because they have a larger visual impact and there is no risk of them being covered by a suit jacket or bumped by a purse hung on a chair. But the absolute best part is that they can easily be transferred to your reception area to be used as centerpieces!

Emma ended up DIYing her centerpieces and bought bulk peonies in white and pink, dusty pink Roses, nude Roses, Seeds, Baby’s Breath and Eucalyptus. She spent a little time trimming and arranging them in vases along and she saved herself a lot of money!

Cabernet, Taupe and Nude Silk Wedding Flowers - Reveal and Review

I take it as a compliment when bride’s find photos of flowers they love on my blog! That’s why I take the time to write each week-maybe this is your week to be inspired by custom silk wedding flowers! Hailey reached out to me by filling out the Free Bride’s Checklist to get a quote and included a link back to this wedding from 2023. It had the colors and flowers she was looking for and so we got to work figuring out her floral needs for her wedding day. Let’s take a look at these lovely photos from Photography by Jill Emmer.

I just love these golden hour photos and on a bridge to boot! Romantic, dream-like and some pretty flowers to accent Hailey’s dress. Hailey carried a handtied bouquet with a mix of cabernet, taupe and nude Roses, filler seeds and Seeded Eucalyptus. The groom’s boutonniere was a cabernet Rose bud with a nude spray Rose, seeds and greens.

We kept the designs simple for everyone. The bridesmaids carried clutch style bouquets with one of each color of Roses, filler seeds and Seeded Eucalyptus.

I love the way the colors of the flowers and greenery pop against the black dresses and suits of their bridal party!

Jewel Tone Wonderland Custom Silk Wedding Flowers - Reveal and Review

A jewel tone wedding always has me excited to share, and today’s is a special one! Shannon reached out to me about her fall wedding and wanted bright colors in jewel tones. I had such a fun time coming up with her flower combination and arrangement designs, and today is the big reveal!! Let’s take a look at Shannon’s custom silk wedding flowers and bridal bouquet for her jewel tone wonderland wedding featured in these awesome photos by Platinum Photography.

Shannon wanted the colors her bridesmaids would be wearing to be featured in the arrangements. Her bridal bouquet was a round handtied bouquet with a mix of purple Mums, a large plum Dahlia, berry Tea Roses, orange Ranunculus, burgundy Peonies, orange Cosmos, mustard Roses, gold Ranunculus, blue Delphinium, white Cabbage Roses, magenta Waxflower, Baby’s Breath and greenery throughout and trailing down. The groom’s bout was a gold Ranunculus, orange Cosmos, magenta Waxflower, plum mini Cosmos and greenery. We were going for bold, bright and colorful and I think we nailed it!

This array of colors makes me so happy! Did you notice that the groomsmen even have different colored suspenders and bowties? I have never seen that before and I love it!

The bridesmaids carried handtied bouquets with a mix of a Mum, Tea Roses, burgundy Peony, orange Cosmos, a mustard Rose, gold Ranunculus, blue Delphinium, magenta Waxflower, orange Ranunculus and greenery. If you look really close, you can see that we also matched the ribbon on their bouquets to their dress color as closely as we could.

Shannon had some really special people in her life, and I love that she wanted to bless each one of them with not only a custom flower arrangement but with a place in the wedding party.

With a color palette as amazing as this one, we wanted to bring that to all the places they’d be celebrating. Shannon ordered a custom altar arrangement with all her colors and flowers for their arch, along with aisle arrangements. These small flower clusters on ribbon loops hung on their rows of seating, bringing the color palette out to the guests too!

For their cake, I created a custom piece that they were able to place around the bottom of the cake stand. It brought a touch of decor and flowers to that space for a picture perfect look!

White and Blue Bouquet Recreation - Reveal

Jay reached out to me for a bridal bouquet recreation in silk wedding flowers for his anniversary and Christmas gift. He sent me some awesome photos of the original bouquet along with a write-up from the florist (bonus points for that!) which helped me determine what actually appeared in the bouquet. They had made some changes to the original suggestions, which is the case with most fresh flower bridal bouquets. What was actually in it was a little different than what the florist had proposed, so having the list and the photos was super helpful!

This round, handtied style bridal bouquet was a mix of white Garden Roses, white Spray Roses, white Ranunculus, white Stock, blue Delphinium, blue Muscari, white Astilbe, Ruscus and Eucalyptus. It was full and textured, and I loved the greenery draping out from the bouquet a little bit.

Gold, White and Peacock Feathers Bouquet Recreation - Reveal

Kirk reached out to me for a custom bridal bouquet recreation in silk flowers for his wife’s unique winter bridal bouquet. Whenever a bouquet has accents, it can present a challenge in recreating it, but I was up for the challenge. Let’s take a look at a side-by-side of the recreation with his wife’s original bouquet!

This bouquet is what is called presentation style or can also be considered a clutch bouquet because it features just 5 flowers. But don’t let the small amount of flowers fool you into thinking it didn’t have impact. Her bouquet featured large, white Calla Lilies and was framed by Peacock feathers and glittery gold Palm Leaves. Finish it off with some shimmery gold ribbon and it was an awesome bouquet!

When you look at their bouquets up against their satiny dresses, the shimmer and gold in the bouquets works beautifully with the colors and the shine!

Rose, Ranunculus and Orchid Bridal Bouquet Recreation - Reveal and Review

Roses, Ranunculus and Orchids might be the most used focal flowers in all the bouquets I’ve ever made. I’m not sure how to collect that data other than thinking back over 20 years of bouquet making and seeing lots of those flowers appear in the arrangements I’ve been commissioned to create. Alexandra’s custom bridal bouquet recreation in silk flowers incorporates all 3 of these favorites! She reached out to me just two weeks after her wedding to recreate her bouquet because she loved it so much! I was honored to help bring this special piece into reality. Lexi Moore Photography captured Alexandra and her bouquet to wonderfully. Let’s take a look at the comparison!

This amazing bouquet was a handtied bouquet with a touch of a cascade thanks to those show-offy Phalaenopsis Orchids. Also in the bouquet were Ranunculus, Garden Roses and English Roses, all in bridal white!

Colorful Silk Wedding Flowers - Reveal and Review

Spring still feels a long way off in Minnesota’s winter wonderland, so I want to share some bright, happy and colorful silk wedding flowers with you today! Amy had a VISION for her wedding florals, and I absolutely loved getting to designs so many arrangements for her July wedding. She wanted lots of colors and texture in each arrangement, and we worked closely to pick out just the right combination of flowers for the look she wanted to capture. Here are some amazing photos by Reilly Carr Photography from Amy’s big day!

Amy’s bouquet was big and awesome and so fun to design with her! Her large handtied bouquet was a mix of burgundy and pink Peonies, blue Delphinium, Billy Button, mini yellow Ranunculus, Waxflower, Baby’s Breath, burgundy Berries, Bluebell, Lilac, mini White Daisies, Fern, Ruscus and white Seeds. I love that there is so much to see in her bouquet. It has visual interest and depth from all the contrast without looking chaotic.

The bridesmaids wore these lovely pale blue dresses which made their bouquets pop even more. They carried a similar mix as the bridal with a few swaps. Their purple feature was some Delphinium instead of Lilac and we didn’t include the fern. These slight changes kept a very cohesive look without them being exact matches.

It took me a few glances to notice that the groom was wearing black and the groomsmen were wearing navy blue. Kind of like the bridesmaid having a slightly different bouquet, this is a great way to set apart your groom in a subtle way. The groom’s boutonniere incorporated all the colors from the bridal bouquet and the groomsmen had simpler bouts with a pink Cabbage Rose and Bluebell.

This next set of photos shows some arrangements that carried her color scheme and floral designs throughout their venue. Here you can see a large bouquet style arrangement that I designed for a table top. What’s cool about make this arrangement bouquet style is that Amy was able to get the flowers ahead of time and pick out a vase that she liked and was the right scale and look for the space. Plus we didn’t have to worry about glass breaking in transit.

Below shows the cake flowers that Amy ordered as a loose mix. I gave her a variety of flowers and greenery that matched her bouquet and her baker placed those items on and around the cake. She had that adorable custom topper so she didn’t need a finished arrangement for that. It’s a great option if you want some florals for your cake but maybe don’t know how you want them placed on the cake.

Sweetheart tables are a lovely way to be a part of the reception but also give you a moment to breath and connect with each other during dinner. I designed a swag for the sweetheart table that draped over the front edge a little bit and was custom made for the size of their table.
