Dried Bouquet Fail: Silk Wedding Bouquets that Last

Melanie contacted me with something I'm learning is a pretty common problem. Her bridal bouquet didn't dry very well and ended up living in a box since they got married 10 years ago.  Don't let a dried wedding bouquet fail keep you from remembering how beautiful your bridal bouquet really was! With a couple emailed pictures, some details from memory and a few weeks time, you too can have a lasting bridal bouquet recreation in silk flowers from your special day. Take a look at how Melanie's bouquet recreation turned out!

Melanie's bouquet consisted of cream Roses, white Stephanotis and some Rose greens. I finished it off with a simple white satin ribbon with a hint of the stems showing for an almost exact match to her elegant hand tied bouquet.

When planning our wedding ten years ago, I had loved the idea of silk flowers for my bouquet so that I could keep and display them forever. However, the local business I contacted was unable to squeeze our small event in, so I went with real flowers instead. After the wedding, I let the bouquet dry but it didn’t end up looking as nice as I’d hoped. I never displayed it, instead relegating it to a closet.

In January of this year, with our ten year anniversary approaching, I again thought about silk flowers, this time as a way to recreate my bridal bouquet. When I searched online, Love Is Blooming was one of the top results. I looked through Erin’s work and was sold immediately. If she could create such stunning, vivid, and detailed bouquets for other clients, I knew my simple bouquet would turn out perfectly. And it did! Finally, after a decade, I have a bouquet I can display and be proud of.

Erin’s work is beautiful, her prices are reasonable, and she completed my bouquet more quickly than I anticipated. I absolutely would recommend her to others.

Bridal Bouquet Recreation- Treat Yo Self!

Katie emailed me a few weeks ago looking to have her bridal bouquet recreated in silk flowers. What I thought was awesome is that she was hoping to have her silk bouquet in time to celebrate Valentine's Day with her husband. Such a great idea and I love that she bought her bouquet as a Valentine's gift to herself and her husband. Treat yo self, right?

Her unique bouquet was filled with beautiful champagne Roses, blue and white Hydrangea, lime green Button Mums, green Hypericum berries, yellow Heather, Leather Fern, and these awesome twisty glitter twigs. So despite the weather being still cold and white up here in the north, I was able to track down these gorgeous spring/summer flowers and colors and put it all together to help Katie and her husband celebrate Valentine's Day together.

Take a look at her Valentine's bouquet recreation!

I was so in love with everything about my wedding day, my dress, my new husband of course and my flowers. Now after having my beautiful bouquet recreated I can look at those flowers sitting on my table and smile, remembering all the happy memories I have of my special day. They are a perfect match and I couldn’t have asked for a better recreation. Thank you so much!

Destination Wedding Silk Flower Bouquet- Cruise Ship Edition

Well it's still winter here, but I hear that in other parts of the world it's actually pretty warm. Hard to imagine right? Maybe not if you are a Floridian, but fellow Northerners feel my pain.

Well let me give you a little something to inspire you for spring, summer or your next cruise!  LaPriece contacted me over email, then her fiance' contacted me via phone, then we all got on the phone together and had a fun chat about silk flowers for their upcoming cruise ship destination wedding.

LaPriece knew she didn't want a traditional white or ivory bouquet, she was all about adding color, texture and a more modern take on greenery. She had some concerns about how to get the bouquet on the ship in one piece. I told her about some of my other destination wedding couples and methods we've used in the past for transporting flowers and keeping them in tact.

After exchanging a few emails full of inspiration pictures, I came up with an original design for their big day. Take a look at this bright and happy bouquet and matching groom's boutonniere.

SO many beautiful flowers and colors! Ranunculus, Roses, Hydrangea, Snowball bush, Peonies, Queen Anne's Lace, Fern, Freesia and ivory ribbon to tie it all together.

Happily, I have the silk bouquet of my dreams. Thanks to LOVE IS BLOOMING. They worked with me to create a beautiful bouquet. That might actually outstage my fabulous dress. That’s an awesome problem to have. Erin sent plenty of pictures. Had a lot of great ideas and insights. Gave me good advice about packing and shipping. And was always available for my questions. True artistry, many thanks to LOVE IS BLOOMING!

Thanks again to LaPriece for a chance to look forward to sunnier skies and warmer days ahead!

A mauve Rose, burgundy Ranunculus, and a touch of Queen Anne's lace and fern make for an awesome groom's boutonniere.

Silk Bridal Bouquet Recreation In A Short Timeframe

I like a good challenge and I'm competitive. So when Andrew contacted me about recreating his wife's bridal bouquet in silk flowers and said he understood if I couldn't get it done before his November 20th anniversary, I mentally told him, "Challenge accepted." Then I wrote him a polite email about how I was going to make it happen. Here's a side-by-side comparison.

Ever since we have been married my wife has been raving about how much she loved her bouquet. Our first anniversary was coming up when I found Love is Blooming on the internet. From the first email with Erin I knew that getting my wife’s bouquet recreated was a good idea! The whole process was so easy, and quick! Erin made the most beautiful recreation of my wife’s bouquet, and my wife was overwhelmed when she saw them. I would highly recommend working with Love is Blooming for whatever you are looking for, you will not regret it!!

Better Gift Giving: Silk Bridal Bouquet Recreations- Part 3

Here's the last of the Christmas gift rush stories: a beautiful wild-flower silk bridal bouquet near and dear to Lee's heart. Lee was hesitant to have this gorgeous bridal bouquet recreated for his wife because he worried it was going to look cheap and tacky.  I assured him that I shop at neither Cheapskatecraft.com or Tackytown Supply Stores. Those are not real places, and if they were I would boycott them. Part of the reason Lee was on the fence is that he designed his wife's bouquet as a surprise on their wedding day. She had decided she didn't need flowers and Lee decided that was nonsense. Smart man, right? So he met with a florist and chose the flowers and style for his wife to carry. Now you can understand why he wanted to get this right! Take a look at the outcome!

I just wanted to let you know that my wife Jessica absolutely loved the flowers you created! They look beautiful on our table for display.

Better Gift Giving: Silk Bridal Bouquet Recreations- Part 2

As I mentioned in part 1, Christmas was a popular occasion to have a bridal bouquet recreated in silk flowers. But don't forget about those anniversaries sprinkled in the holiday season. Matthew had one of those lovely winter weddings that he wanted to commemorate.  Take a look at what we came up with as we worked together to get it just right:

Better Gift Giving: Silk Bridal Bouquet Recreations - Part 1

I'm no Santa Clause, but I got to play one this year!  I had two requests right at the end of the year to do a silk bridal bouquet recreation in time for Christmas. What a great gift right? Skip the perfume and the fuzzy socks and take a minute to honor your wedding day and your special bride. Love it!

Bob sent me a couple photos and I got to work tracking down all the components. Take a look at what I came up with!

My wife absolutely loved the recreation of her wedding bouquet!! Erin did an amazing job with just a couple pictures. We couldn’t be happier with the results!!

Here's the original bouquet. Bob's awesome Aunt was their photographer and captured these great images that allowed me to recreate this beautiful bouquet.

Blush and Mauve Silk Bridal Bouquet

Finished product shots are really fun to take and to show. I get to see the process from start to finish: from inspiration board/photos, to a pile of flowers in my studio, to construction, finishing touches, and final photos.

I shared one of those steps with you in a post about a vintage blush and mauve silk bridal bouquet for Susan. She had a broach made custom for her bridal bouquet and wanted some additional bling added in. She gave me quite a bit of freedom in the design which is always a fun challenge. Here's the pile o' flowers picture:

bridal-bouquet.jpg

And here's the finished product:

Mauve roses, pink and cream Hydrangea, Ivory and pink Calla Lilies, Lamb's ear

Erin was very creative with my bouquet in choosing the perfect flowers to compliment my antique inspired wedding gown as I had no idea as to what kind of flowers to choose. It was beautiful and looked so real and she did not over price the bouquet. I would definitely recommend Love Is Blooming 100%. I am absolutely satisfied, my bouquet is stunning and is a keepsake to last forever.
— Susan | Tennesee

We added in some gold buttons with rhinestone details along side the broach; a good complement without taking away from such a unique piece. The groom's boutonniere was a single mauve rose with some lamb's ear tucked behind and wrapped in the same ribbon as the bouquet.

Silk Flower Arrangements for Anniversary Celebrations

Silk Floral Headpiece Review

I've got 4 kids, so I know what it's like to see something you love grow up right before your eyes. I imagine the day when my kids grow up and move on with their lives, but that first time they come back after leaving the nest must be pretty special. Well, when I ship off or hand over one of my custom silk bridal bouquet recreations, a box full of silk wedding flowers, or a unique silk floral headpiece, it's little like sending out one of your babies into the world. You hope you hear back from them. So when I open up my ever-filling email inbox and see pictures from one of my treasured clients, it's like that baby coming home!

**Disclaimer: No one has ever accused me of being under-dramatic**

You may remember my post about Winter's beautiful custom floral headpiece, stylishly displayed on my deck rail, followed up by my obviously non-bridal self. Her email caused a squeal of delight as I had all the heart eyes for these pictures. Take a look at the beautiful images provided by Lynsey Tjaden with Studio 220.

Checking out her bling- you know we've all done it;)

I love the joy that is so evident here!

The flowers held up VERY well. I have worn this crown on several other occasions and it has looked perfect every time!

Silk Bridal Bouquet Recreation

Most bride's loved their bouquets. Most bride's never saw their beautiful bouquet again once the wedding was over. There are processes to preserve a bouquet, but let's be honest they won't have those same vibrant colors as they did on your big day.

One of the best parts of recreating a bridal bouquet in silk flowers is that you get the benefit of an artistic eye hunting down the flowers that made your bridal bouquet unique and lovely. And while not every detail may be an exact duplicate (I'm still working on my cloning machine), it will bring the spirit and style, colors and elegance that it did the day you walked down that aisle. Here's an example of what it looks like to have your bouquet recreated.

I included all the elements from her original bouquet with a new style of wrap that she picked out herself. Now Sabrina has a beautiful reminder of her wedding day.

Since I had a destination wedding, I didn’t get to keep my bouquet, which I loved. On my four-year anniversary, my husband told me to find someone to recreate the bouquet as a keepsake. After doing a lot of research, I came across Erin’s website, and could tell she really cared about her work. I was right! She knew just what questions to ask, and after I sent a few pictures, all I had to do was sit back and wait - not very long, either! My bouquet was not the typical white roses, and it even had some flowers I didn’t know the names of. But Erin did and had no problem acquiring them for the bouquet. I LOVE the recreated bouquet. It not only looks real, it looks exactly like my original wedding bouquet. Thank you, Erin!

Rustic Barn Wedding Flowers with a Glam Twist

Tracy wanted her fall wedding to full of rustic barn accents and glamour, but not the usual glitz and bling. When she emailed me this spring about her wedding flowers, she painted a very vivid picture of their theme. I'll let her tell it in her own words.

" Just to give you a feel for the wedding, it will be in a renovated barn. But the theme is old time gangster meeting his sweetheart at a hideout because things were too hot back in the city."

Do you not just love that?! With that story in mind, we worked to find flowers that went with that theme, incorporated her colors, and followed the style of some inspiration photos she sent me. Here's what we came up with:

The Bridal Bouquet

Tracy will be carrying a teardrop bouquet with burgundy Lilies, purple Roses, purple and lavender Hydrangea, orange Button Mums, and Silver Dollar Eucalyptus.

The Bridesmaid Bouquets

Her three bridesmaids will carry a bouquet with matching flowers but in a loose round style bouquet with a single featured Lily. She had a couple of other arrangements she ordered that I crafted with the same flowers and that tie it all together.

The Wedding Cake

Not exactly a Pinterest-worthy setup, but shows off the beautiful cascade of flowers that will be added to their wedding cake.

And the flower girls...

Tracy's two flower girls are going to be wearing these adorable floral head pieces, modeled by my daughter. Apparently her Vikings jersey was a good match for modeling these pieces--girl loves watching football with her daddy;)

Silk Bridal Bouquet Reviews

There's almost no better way of knowing whether something is good or not than when you hear it from someone else. "You have to try that new restaurant, the food was amazing!" "I just bought the most comfortable pair of shoes." "My dog stopped eating things off the counter since we started him on his new dog food!" You get the idea;) So when I get a great silk bridal bouquet review from a bride, husband, mother, whoever, the responsible thing to do is share it with all of you!

Catherine's bridal bouquet review

Catherine, who you may remember from this recent post, sent me a photo from her wedding day. We had worked together to find the perfect matching roses for her bouquet and I think we did a pretty darn good job!

Don't they look fantastic?

Don't they look fantastic?

My experience with Love is Blooming was very heart warming and exceptional. This vendor went all out of their way to match the color of the silk bouquet that I wanted. Mrs. Erin responded back to my questions promptly and she did a very beautiful job in arranging and styling how I wanted my bouquet. She emailed me pictures of every stage of creating my bouquet in case I wanted to change something or not. She is the best person that I know of that will work with you especially if you are on a tight budget. I will recommend her and this vendor to all the couples who are planning to marry in the near future.

Bridal Bouquet Recreation with Succulents

Dan found me through my Etsy shop and sent me a message to see if I could help him pull of a most excellent anniversary gift for his wife. He was looking for a silk bridal bouquet recreation with succulents. I took one look at the photos he sent and knew I wanted to take on this beauty!

Here's the original bouquet, photographed by Kristen Holly Carlson. Check out her site here.

Is that not just a gorgeous bouquet? Vibrant colors, interesting texture and composition. And the twine detail on the stems is perfect!

When it came to recreating the bouquet with silk flowers, the pictures were definitely helpful. But the most help came from Dan himself who was able to clarify some questions I had about the center of the Anemones (black or blue?) and the type of ribbon under the twine. He also gave me great feedback on the color of the succulent which I tinted for him to get as close a match as possible.  Take a look at the finished product!

Hurricanes impacting the Floral Industry in Minneapolis

IMG_2617.JPG

Last month we saw lots of difficulty and heartbreak around the world. And I don't want to take anything away from that; people lost their lives, their belongings and their livelihoods. But often, when we are far enough removed from a natural disaster here in Minnesota, we don't feel the impact in many noticeable ways. However, I was very interested to see this pop up from my local news station. It features one of my local wholesalers that provide many of the beautiful products I'm able to offer my customers.

When considering what direction to go with your wedding flowers, there are many benefits to using silk flowers: my favorite being that you can have your flowers on hand weeks and even months ahead of time. Because no one has the ability to predict the future when it comes to your wedding planning, consider silk wedding flowers as a way to plan ahead with confidence. Request a quote if you like the sound of that!
