Sunflower Spotlight - Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s Thanksgiving week, and I thought it would be fun to spotlight Sunflowers! They are often a popular flower choice for fall arrangements because of their sunny color and how well they fit in with all the jewel tones. They’re also typically associated with fall (navy, burgundy, orange, emerald). If you love Sunflowers, custom silk wedding flowers are a great option to have since fresh Sunflowers are huge and not always in season. Let’s take a look at some bridal bouquets and matching bridesmaid bouquets to see a variety of ways that Sunflowers can be incorporated into different styles of bouquets.

I love this first look! It’s classic and classy with Sunflowers, white Roses, Baby’s Breath, a touch of black Skimmia Berries, mini Eucalyptus and Silver Dollar Eucalyptus in round handtied style bouquets. We simplified the bridesmaid bouquets to only include Sunflowers and Baby’s Breath, but you can see how well it matches the bridal bouquet without being identical.

The texture in these next bouquets are pretty awesome! There is lots of color and variety in this modified cascade style silk bridal bouquet. It includes Sunflowers, burgundy Roses and Dahlia, red Peonies, dusty blue Delphinium, Baby’s Breath, white Heather, burgundy Lamb’s Ear, Blueberries, burgundy Amaranthus, and Ruscus. This has a very classic fall vibe without having too much of the harvest fest feel.

Here’s another modified cascade style silk bridal bouquet that incorporates Sunflowers, but for a very different feel! It has a some brighter tones that really allow the Sunflowers to pop! This custom silk bridal bouquet included dusty rose Cabbage Roses, white Garden Roses, blue Delphinium, Baby’s Breath, Fern, and Eucalyptus. It’s bright and playful but could work for a spring, summer or fall wedding! The smaller matching bouquet is actually the toss bouquet that incorporated the same mix of flowers as the bridal bouquet in clutch size. I added some ribbon tails for style as it got thrown to the waiting ladies.

The last set of custom silk flower arrangements has a moodier vibe with darker tones but touches of brightness. The bridal bouquet was a teardrop cascade style with burgundy Roses and Dahlia, white Garden Roses, Sunflowers with burgundy centers, Baby’s Breath, white Heather, Silver Dollar Eucalyptus, Seeded Eucalyptus and sage mini Ruscus. The bridesmaid bouquet used the same mix of flowers but in a handtied style with lots of greenery.

Succulents and Sunflowers in Silk Wedding Flowers

If sunflowers are your main squeeze, here’s another look for your wedding day! You may recognize this style from the original elopement bouquet I made for Katrina. It’s been one of my most popular bridal bouquets to date! You can see with these wedding flowers, we added on to the custom arrangements and included some cake flowers and some boutonnieres featuring the ever-popular succulents!

This cascading style bridal bouquet is on the verge of being a modified cascade. You can see the outline of the tear drop shape of a traditional cascading bouquet. But all that lush greenery give it’s a looser, more organic shape that works so well with the sunflowers.

We simplified the look for the bridesmaid bouquet to fit a loose round handtied style with just a single larger succulent, and few Sunflowers, Baby’s Breath and more of that lovely greenery.

Each of the boutonnieres was a different mini-Succulent with a bit of Baby’s Breath and Ecualyptus with matching Antique White Ribbon.

She wanted something really simple for her cake, so I used mini Sunflowers, Baby’s Breath and Eucalyptus for a cohesive look.
