Silk Wedding Flower Backdrop Reveal

You may remember my previous post about Ali's flower backdrops using silk flowers for her wedding backdrop. When she called me, Ali already had her flowers figured out but had her heart set on a couple of flower backdrops for an altar arrangement during her wedding ceremony and a secondary site during the reception. She was able to send me a few inspiration photos to give me some ideas of what she liked.  I just  got back some amazing photos from her photographer Jennifer Jane.

And now, I'm going to let these photos speak for themselves.

I heard about Love is Blooming through my sister Katy, as she used Erin for her wedding and was completely amazed by her and couldn’t say enough good things. I witnessed this through the flowers she did for the bridesmaids and how they looked so real and were beautiful. When it was time to plan my wedding and I had a Pinterest vision in mind for a floral backdrop, I reached out to Erin to see if she would be able to make it a reality. To say the least, she went above and beyond what I had expected and created my vision perfectly! Erin was timely, communicated very well, reasonably priced and did her absolute best on them! We had many compliments during our day, thanks to her! It made for a perfectly magical day. Thanks again to Erin, from Love is Blooming, for helping make our day special!
Thanks again!!

Silk Floral Wedding Crown with Pheasant Feathers

One of the awesome new(ish) trends making the rounds is the romantic and rustic floral wedding crown. Offering endless styles and options for flower combinations, it's almost like the new bridal bouquet. For those of you still wondering if we're talking about the hippy floral crowns of old, let me just say, this ain't your momma's daisy chain.

Winter contacted me a few weeks back with some pictures and even a hand drawn sketch of what she wanted in her floral crown for her Autumn wedding. She gave me some more details for her big day: out in a field, they would be picking flowers from the property the day of for bouquets, and the ceremony will be outside rain or shine.  As you can imagine, pulling together a bouquet of wildflowers for a fresh-from-the-field look is a lot more doable with your bridesmaids than crafting a crown...out of flowers...to attach to your head. I think Winter made the right choice to have this sort of arrangement ready to go before the day of her wedding.

She gave me a few more thoughts on what she wanted to incorporate including a larger cream flower, pheasant feathers, and fall colors and foliage. I got to work finding the perfect components and began working on her crown. Since this was a one and done arrangement, I communicated a lot with Winter over email (even though she's local) so we could get the shape, look, angle, and even the side it would go on her head all perfected. I finished the floral crown off with a moss green velvet ribbon. I left the tails plenty long so Winter's hair stylist might be able to actually weave it up into her hair. It's going to be gorgeous!

Here are some shots of the floral wedding crown with pheasant feathers.

And, because, what's a floral wedding crown without a head under it? Here's me awkwardly posing trying to showcase the beauty of this piece.

Thanks again to Winter for bringing this fun and creative piece to me to craft for you! If you're looking for a floral crown, something with pheasant feathers, or another type of headpiece for your wedding day, a custom silk flower crown might be what you're looking for! Send me an email today to see what designs are waiting for you.

Silk Bridal Bouquet Recreation- Autumn Edition Part 2

This summer was a busy time for fall weddings and silk bridal bouquet recreations, as well as for travel and other summer fun things with my family. That's one of the really awesome parts about my job. I'm able to enjoy my family time and still create custom silk flower arrangements, all year long!

Autumn Wedding Silk Bridal Bouquet Recreation

Lee contacted me in July to have his wife's bridal bouquet recreated and to be delivered in September. This gave me plenty of time to track down the beautiful flowers from her original bridal bouquet, work on other clients' arrangements, take my kids to the park and zoo and camping.  I was able to put together Lee's bouquet, email him pictures for feedback, make the tweaks, add the finishing touches and ship his bouquet to Washington with time to spare! And Lee didn't have to wait around hoping his wife's gift was going to show up in time for their anniversary or that it wouldn't look like he wanted it to.

A wonderful experience, from initial emails to delivered product. The bouquet was a mirror image of our original wedding bouquet!

Silk Bridal Bouquet Recreation: Before and After

Here's a photo of the original bouquet Lee sent me. He was able to give me a few more details to fill in the blanks before I got started on the recreation bouquet. This beautiful photo is by: http://www.saleinamarie.com/

Budget Friendly Silk Bridal Bouquet

When you're planning your wedding, every detail counts. Those special touches you've been dreaming about can either break the bank or work within your budget.  I work with brides with budgets of all shapes and sizes to create the perfect silk bridal bouquet of their dreams.

Catherine's story

Catherine emailed me a few weeks back with a link to a bouquet that she loved. She was looking for a budget friendly silk bridal bouquet. The photo she sent was a classic rose bouquet with a shiny rhinestone in the center of each flower and some bling on the handle. Catherine was also able to email a picture of her dress so that I could match the color of the roses to the fabric as closely as possible.

After a trip to my local Minneapolis florist supply, I emailed her pictures of the options that were available. When we compared her dress picture to the roses I found, we decided the first type was too bright tomato-y of red, the second was too pink of a burgundy, but the third was just right. With the roses decided on, like Goldilocks, I tra-la-la'ed off to my studio to nap...not really, but that would have been nice.

budget-friendly-silk-bridal-bouquet.jpg
budget-friendly-silk-bridal-bouquet.jpg
budget-friendly-silk-bridal-bouquet.jpg

Catherine really liked how the original bouquet looked and no changes were in order, which made my job simple!  I created a modest size bouquet, threw in a dash of bling, wrapped it up with matching ribbon, added on more bling along the top and bottom of the handle and called it good.  I mentioned a groom's boutonniere to Catherine and she was excited her man could wear a matching flower.  I used a single rose, some greens and the same ribbon and she loved it.  Take a look at this budget friendly silk bridal bouquet and groom's boutonniere!

How to Order Silk Wedding Flowers

The flowers for your wedding are important part of your big day. You'll want to choose the perfect flowers and colors to compliment the beauty of your ceremony and reception. Determining whether you'll order fresh or silk wedding flowers is the first step. In addition, you'll want to consider the ordering process to ensure a hassle-free experience leading up to your big day.

The Fresh Florist Process

I just came across an article that outlines the process for nailing down your contract with a fresh florist. It was well written, thorough, and...complicated. I couldn't help but think that it was quite overwhelming and seemed brutally time-consuming. Let me sum up what this article proposed it would all entail:

  • Scheduling appointments to interview multiple florists
  • Meeting again with the one you choose to get a quote
  • Going back to your florist to review quote and make changes
  • Go home and think about contract
  • Go back and discuss payment options, cancellation policies, how to make changes, discussing hourly/delivery/additional on-site service charges, coming up with a list of flower substitutions that are acceptable vs. unacceptable
  • Sign the contract and pay deposit
  • Go back several times to discuss final designs and quantities
  • Wait until your wedding day to see exactly what's going to show up.

Ordering Silk Wedding Flowers with Love Is Blooming

Now it's fairly obvious that I'm biased towards my own process, but here's why:

  • Email Erin with pictures, ideas and details you'd like included
  • Receive an email with design ideas, some pictures and a free quote
  • Like the quote, email Erin to say, "Looks awesome!" Receive an emailed contract and detailed list of exactly what each arrangement will include.
  • Pay 50% Deposit
  • Receive emailed pictures as arrangements come together and to approve final versions of everything.
  • Pay balance, receive flowers weeks or even months in advance.

Did I mention you don't have to leave your house, couch, or pajamas to get the wedding flowers of your Pinterest board dreams? Did I also mention that you'll be guaranteed to receive the flowers in your original designs? Did I also mention I have lots of happy customers to attest to these facts?

Whether you've got months or over a year to plan, send in your Free Bride's Checklist today so you can just kick back and watch Netflix guilt free.

Vintage Wedding Flowers

A few weeks ago, I got an email from out-of-state bride Susan looking for me to replicate one of my own vintage wedding flower bouquets. You can see the original design here. That particular bouquet had already sold on my Etsy shop, and because it was crafted more than a year ago, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to duplicate it exactly as pictured. The more I talked with Susan, the more I began to understand her vision for her vintage inspired wedding.  She wanted to tie in the color mauve that would be an element feature in her wedding dress. So I set out to find some flowers that would give Susan a similar look as the original bouquet but also give it a custom twist.

Vintage Bouquet in Process

The bouquet is still in progress, but here's a sneak peak of the main flowers you'll see in the finished product.

I'm really excited to share more as I progress on this design. Susan's bouquet will also have some awesome bling in a variety of pieces, including a cameo broach made by Susan herself. It's going to be gorgeous!

Red, White and Blue Silk Wedding Flowers

Happy Independence Day!  While some of you are thinking of lounging pool side with a frosty beverage while hanging out with friends, you might also be contemplating your upcoming wedding and all the details that need to be figured out. And since it is a national holiday , I thought I'd use Old Glory for some red, white and blue silk wedding flower inspiration.

Check back soon for details about this gorgeous red bouquet for southern bride, Catherine.

You can read the story behind this simple white bouquet here.

Blue can be tricky to incorporate. You can read about how we worked it into Trisha's burlap and lace wedding here.

Minneapolis Wedding DIY Aisle Arrangement

I'm all about the Benjamins...saving them that is! So when I whipped up a pretty little craft for my home in a matter of minutes and for a bargain price, it occurred to me that this would be a beautiful addition to any wedding aisle arrangement and decor.

In a matter of 10 knots I had a lovely little hanging planter or votive holder.  Find a mini shepherd's hook and you're all set!

Flower Backdrops For Minneapolis Wedding Ceremonies

This past fall I got an email from Katy, who I created these flowers for. She put me in touch with her sister, Ali, who was now planning her own wedding. Ali already had her flowers figured out but had her heart set on a couple of flower backdrops for an altar arrangement during her wedding ceremony and a secondary site during the reception. As we discussed and planned over email, Ali was able to send me a few inspiration photos to give me some ideas of what she liked.  Her colors were pastel shades of pink and purple with white and greenery. Ali also sent me photos of the set up at the church they would be getting married in and exact measurements to make sure we filled the space. Take a look at our unique and rustic flower backdrops for her ceremony!

Minneapolis_wedding_flower_backdrops.jpg

Standing at 8 feet tall and 5 feet wide, this beauty is going to make quite the statement. I used a  variety of flowers and greens to make the backdrop both interesting and delicate. It also made it challenging to find a place open enough to photograph this sizable altar arrangement. And in case you were wondering, yes, those are chopsticks wedging the branch into my barn door track. A girl's gotta do...

Here's the smaller 4' x 4' flower backdrop incorporating similar flowers, greens and stick topper to make a cohesive look without being the big guy's mini-me.

Minneapolis Bridal Bouquet Color of the Year: Greenery

I have to admit that when I heard Pantone chose Greenery as their bridal bouquet color of 2017, I was a little disappointed. Not only is it a difficult color to find actual flowers in, it also feels a little like a copout for those of us in the wedding industry since all we would have to do is suggest a bride adds, well...some greenery.

This not quite lime or kelly or spring green is a little mysterious to me. Yet, it follows closely behind it's siblings Rose Quartz and Serenity (blue) that Pantone dubbed its 2016 colors of the year.

So, what to do, what to do?

Minneapolis_Bridal_Bouquet_colors.jpg

This feels contrived, but greenery of course! For those of you on the anti-greenery wagon, I assure you that we are not, in fact, receding into the 90's era of weddings where we saw such craziness as this:

Surely even Mariah regrets this one.

Surely even Mariah regrets this one.

I've been receiving many inquiries from brides, beginning last year, that have requested more greenery. We aren't talking the tired variegated ivy of Mariah's day. Rather, the luxurious textures of Silver Dollar Eucalyptus, Lamb's Ear, Succulents, Seeded Eucalyptus, and even Pine branches.

This year is all about taking that greenery and upping the ante for a fresh-from-the- garden look. It's rethinking the rustic style with less twigs and berries and more flowing lines. And the great thing about Greenery is that it goes with any season.

If you're looking for a way to incorporate Greenery, or greenery (boy, that's confusing) into your wedding design scheme, fill out the Free Bride's Checklist with all the details you can think of. And while you're waiting to hear back about how many Aunts and Uncles need flowers, check out the blog to see examples of greenery in action.

Minneapolis Bridal Bouquet Recreation

Here's another fabulous Bridal Bouquet Recreation that made it's way to Arizona earlier this month.

Julie's original bridal bouquet contained a variety of flowers in pale shades of pink, cream and lavender.

Minneapolis Silk Bridal Bouquet Recreation- Christmas Surprise!

Heather got in touch with me after trying to save and preserve her daughter's bridal bouquet from her June wedding. When it didn't turn out like she hoped, she started looking around for someone to make a silk bridal bouquet recreation so she could give it to her daughter as a Christmas gift. Enter Moi! With only a few weeks to the big jolly holiday, we started exchanging emails and pictures to find just the right flowers.

One thing I discovered is that the filter or editing tools your photographer may use is something to be aware of. In the two pictures below,  you can see how the pinks vary in darkness based on the lighting and possible editing used. It was so great to have Heather on the line...ahem, email...to provide feedback specifically regarding the colors in the original bouquet.

That dress though!

What a beautiful bride and family!  I love that Heather thought of such a meaningful and unique Christmas gift for her daughter.

Summer Sunflowers for Minneapolis Wedding

Nothing says summer like sunflowers! And with temps being unseasonably warm around the Minneapolis area, I've got warmer days on the brain. What a great time to share some summer-y silk wedding bouquets and silk altar arrangements with you.

Ali contacted me with some ideas, colors and inspiration photos that she shared with me through my Free Bride's Checklist. Despite the fact that Ali lives just a short drive from me, we were able to do all the planning, designing and communicating of her arrangements over email. Besides the usual bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages, she also needed an altar arrangement for an arch she planned to feature at her outdoor ceremony. Take a look at what we came up with!

Bridal Bouquet Recreation in Silk Flowers

Whenever someone asks me to recreate a bridal bouquet in silk flowers, I always get excited! Of course it's fun to be a part of the work that goes into a wedding, but it's a blast getting to be part of a surprise like this. Kevin contacted me and sent me a few photos to help me with his wife's bouquet. Some of the photos he sent me were tricky to tell the colors, so once we had it all squared away, we got started.

Silk Bridal Bouquets

Look at this happy couple! Who wouldn't want to celebrate that kind of love?

With all bridal bouquet recreations, I do my very best to duplicate the flowers and colors from the original bouquet. As was the case with Kevin's, we kept the style, colors, and main flowers the same while substituting smaller elements that still replicated the look. Tracking down the right flowers can take some time, so please allow for that when planning your gift. All in all, most recreations take 2-4 weeks, which means you are just 2-4 weeks away from awesome gift giving. Silk Wedding Flowers with Rustic Romance: Burlap and Lace

When I received Trisha's Free Bride's Checklist, I instantly got an idea of what she hoped for in her silk wedding flowers. Her colors were slate blue, charcoal grey, and ivory with burlap accents.  She left the comment that she wasn't look for anything, "too fancy," and she liked an "earthy and natural," look. If you spend any time on Pinterest, then you've probably noticed the greenery trend. Mainly, that lots of bouquets have tons of greenery. It gives a lush feel to a bouquet, when done right. Trisha and I talked over email and decided that Seeded Eucalyptus and Lamb's Ear would be the perfect combination of lushness and softness.

Silk Bridal Bouquet

For the bridesmaids, we paired down the size, keeping the flowers the same. It kept the look cohesive but allowed the bridal bouquet to stand out.

Toss bouquet (left) and bridesmaid bouquet (right).

Wondering about that great slate blue color? I found that Delphinium and Thistle were a perfect match for Trisha's color scheme. The lamb's ear brought in a touch of gray without really going the whole nine yards. And you can't go wrong with Roses! Tie it all off with some burlap and lace and you've got yourself rustic and romantic all in one package. Like what you see? Send in a Free Bride's Checklist to get a quote on silk wedding flowers.

Destination Wedding Bridal Bouquet Recreation

In just a month's time, or less, you can be like Chris--a thoughtful, romantic, creative husband who surprised his wife with a unique and touching anniversary gift. All it takes is a photo or two, a desire to be an awesome gift giver and well, ahem, payment. But that's all, I promise!

Bridal Bouquet Recreation in Silk Flowers

Original Bridal Bouquet

Since Chris got married in Hawaii, he wasn't too sure of the flowers from the bouquet. Thanks to an old photo with his invoice, we were able to figure out some of the flowers tucked into the bouquet. However, since it was Hawaii, I could see that some of the flowers were different from the invoice, probably fresh-picked from the grounds of their resort. Thanks to the invoice and the picture, we were able to piece it all together and do a bridal bouquet recreation in silk flowers in just a few weeks time for Chris' anniversary dinner.

If you are looking for that special gift, for that special someone, search no further! Send me your pictures and let's get started!

Bridal Review: Choosing Silk Flowers

Remember Meaghan's story? She was one of the 11 bridesmaids in her friend's wedding and carried one of my bouquets.  Having seen the flower quality in person and heard from Elizabeth about the process and the savings of using silk flowers, she decided it was the right way to go for her wedding.

Here are some photographs of Meaghan's big day, shot by MJO Photography out of Warren, Ohio. Enjoy!

Working with Erin was so wonderful! I had seen her work for a friend’s wedding I was in and loved it. Since I live several states away, I was a little worried with how to communicate my vision for the bouquets. Erin made the process very simple and exceeded my expectations! Her ideas were extremely helpful and the flowers came out better than I could have imagined! When I got the flowers and got to look at them in person for the first time, my mom and I were stunned with how gorgeous they were. Guests were also amazed at how wonderful they looked and couldn’t believe they weren’t real! I’m so happy I chose Erin to make my bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres. I’m thrilled to have my bridal bouquet to enjoy for years to come!

Planning Wedding Flowers In Advance

You may have read my post about how to make your wedding more Stress Free, so it goes without saying that you might want to see how that turned out for our lovely bride Heather. She was kind enough to send me photos from her big day, courtesy of {insert photographer's info}. Take a look!

A lovely lineup!

Heather did a great job communicating her likes and dislikes as well as her style and theme. We were able to design, together, her dream flowers for her beautiful fall wedding, well in advance. That allowed her to be available to make other decisions in the process of planning the many other details of her wedding. As you can see by the smiles on their faces, our plan worked:)

Thank you so much for being an important part of our special day all the way from Minnesota.

Happily Ever After Her Big Day

In November I shared with you all the details of Leanna's beautiful Navy, Blush and Gold Wedding flowers. So when I received an email from her right after Christmas with photographs from her wedding, it felt like another present I found under the tree. I'm happy to share the wonderful work of her photographer, Pervez Taufiq and give you a peek into her gorgeous flowers in action.

The lovely wedding party in their various shades of navy.

One of the bridesmaid bouquets.

There are so many extras that go into wedding decor that many couples forget you can use flowers in a variety of places for added impact. One of the easier and less expensive ways to incorporate your wedding flowers is on your cake. Leanna chose to have me create some small clusters to add to the layers of her cake. The simple design of the ribbon and the delicacy of the flowers is a great combination.

The contrast of the bridal bouquet is stunning!

If you are looking for impact on a bigger scale, centerpieces might be the way to go. Leanna's two styles of centerpieces were custom designed for the bowls and vases she had already purchased. They not only looked cohesive, but were a great romantic touch to her chevron tables linens and gold flatware.  Leanna did a great job tying it all together!

Did I mention that Leanna lives across the country from me? We did this entirely over email! If you like the sound of that and are looking for affordable options for centerpieces or bouquets, silk flowers might be your jam. Head on over to site to our fill out the Free Bride's Checklist for a quote delivered to your inbox without adding a single appointment to your calendar.

Remembering and Celebrating-Minneapolis Bouquet Recreations

Being a part of some big moments in the lives of strangers is a pretty unique experience.  There are many emails that have brought me to tears and this is one of them:

Hi Erin!! Sorry about the delay in getting back to u!!!!! As you know It was such a hard day to plan not knowing what we should do for celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary with my dad’s passing a few months ago. Do we celebrate? acknowledge? Forget about it? But our gift and a little surprise were priceless! We started out with a few family members and went to visit my dads grave site at the Lincoln memorial cemetary. The place in itself is so beautiful plus there were flags everywhere due to it being Veterans Day. As we stood around and prayed I handed my mom the gold box (see below pictures) she cried as she read it and opened it up and placed the boutonniere on my dad’s grave. It was the sweetest moment ever. I then opened up a bottle of champagne and toasted my parents and even shared some with my dad. As sad as it sounds it was beautiful and my gift was just the right touch! We proceeded to go back to my moms house for her friends wanted to stop by for their support. The door bell kept ringing and then it was time for the last guest to arrive with his gift, she answers the door and there is my son, her first born grandchild (my boy who attends U of M) standing there with her wedding flowers!!!! She couldn’t believe it and stood there crying and hugging him! He hadn’t been home since May!!!! She was in her glory! It could of been such a sad sad day but all my little touches were just the trick to praise the day instead of dreading it. I also had a cake made to resemble the flowers you put together for me! Lastly is a photo of my mom with what’s left of her wedding party. Thank you so much for bringing so much happiness into what could of been such a sad day! We were able to honor both my parents as if they were both here with us! Before he passed he had me promise that I would always look after her and I think he would be very pleased with how I’m doing and my continuation of keeping his memory alive in good times and bad....

Forever thankful,
— Kelly R. and Family

This might be one of my favorite events to have been a part of. I just love the way Kelly thought out the details and took into consideration what her mom, and her dad, would want on such a big day. If you want to hear about the process, check out this post about recreating her mother's wedding bouquet from 1966.
