Minneapolis Bridal Bouquet Color of the Year: Greenery

I have to admit that when I heard Pantone chose Greenery as their bridal bouquet color of 2017, I was a little disappointed. Not only is it a difficult color to find actual flowers in, it also feels a little like a copout for those of us in the wedding industry since all we would have to do is suggest a bride adds, well...some greenery.

This not quite lime or kelly or spring green is a little mysterious to me. Yet, it follows closely behind it's siblings Rose Quartz and Serenity (blue) that Pantone dubbed its 2016 colors of the year.

So, what to do, what to do?

Minneapolis_Bridal_Bouquet_colors.jpg

This feels contrived, but greenery of course! For those of you on the anti-greenery wagon, I assure you that we are not, in fact, receding into the 90's era of weddings where we saw such craziness as this:

Surely even Mariah regrets this one.

Surely even Mariah regrets this one.

I've been receiving many inquiries from brides, beginning last year, that have requested more greenery. We aren't talking the tired variegated ivy of Mariah's day. Rather, the luxurious textures of Silver Dollar Eucalyptus, Lamb's Ear, Succulents, Seeded Eucalyptus, and even Pine branches.

This year is all about taking that greenery and upping the ante for a fresh-from-the- garden look. It's rethinking the rustic style with less twigs and berries and more flowing lines. And the great thing about Greenery is that it goes with any season.

If you're looking for a way to incorporate Greenery, or greenery (boy, that's confusing) into your wedding design scheme, fill out the Free Bride's Checklist with all the details you can think of. And while you're waiting to hear back about how many Aunts and Uncles need flowers, check out the blog to see examples of greenery in action.

Minneapolis Bridal Bouquet Recreation

Here's another fabulous Bridal Bouquet Recreation that made it's way to Arizona earlier this month.

Minneapolis_bridal_bouquet_recreation.jpg

Julie's original bridal bouquet contained a variety of flowers in pale shades of pink, cream and lavender.

I'm loving doing these fun bouquets for customers of all kinds: husbands, mothers, daughters, and the brides who carried them originally. It's a great way to remember a beautiful day in the history of your family.

Minneapolis Silk Bridal Bouquet Recreation- Christmas Surprise!

Heather got in touch with me after trying to save and preserve her daughter's bridal bouquet from her June wedding. When it didn't turn out like she hoped, she started looking around for someone to make a silk bridal bouquet recreation so she could give it to her daughter as a Christmas gift. Enter Moi! With only a few weeks to the big jolly holiday, we started exchanging emails and pictures to find just the right flowers.

One thing I discovered is that the filter or editing tools your photographer may use is something to be aware of. In the two pictures below,  you can see how the pinks vary in darkness based on the lighting and possible editing used. It was so great to have Heather on the line...ahem, email...to provide feedback specifically regarding the colors in the original bouquet.

That dress though!

What a beautiful bride and family!  I love that Heather thought of such a meaningful and unique Christmas gift for her daughter.

Bridal Bouquet Recreation

Since Christmas has long since come and gone, maybe your anniversary is on the horizon! Or maybe your birthday vacuum cleaner didn't go over so well last year. This could be the year to wow that special lady in your life with a custom bridal bouquet recreation. Better gift giving is just a click away.

Summer Sunflowers for Minneapolis Wedding

Nothing says summer like sunflowers! And with temps being unseasonably warm around the Minneapolis area, I've got warmer days on the brain. What a great time to share some summer-y silk wedding bouquets and silk altar arrangements with you.

Ali contacted me with some ideas, colors and inspiration photos that she shared with me through my Free Bride's Checklist. Despite the fact that Ali lives just a short drive from me, we were able to do all the planning, designing and communicating of her arrangements over email. Besides the usual bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages, she also needed an altar arrangement for an arch she planned to feature at her outdoor ceremony. Take a look at what we came up with!

Bridal Bouquet Recreation in Silk Flowers

Whenever someone asks me to recreate a bridal bouquet in silk flowers, I always get excited! Of course it's fun to be a part of the work that goes into a wedding, but it's a blast getting to be part of a surprise like this. Kevin contacted me and sent me a few photos to help me with his wife's bouquet. Some of the photos he sent me were tricky to tell the colors, so once we had it all squared away, we got started.

Silk Bridal Bouquets

Look at this happy couple! Who wouldn't want to celebrate that kind of love?

With all bridal bouquet recreations, I do my very best to duplicate the flowers and colors from the original bouquet. As was the case with Kevin's, we kept the style, colors, and main flowers the same while substituting smaller elements that still replicated the look. Tracking down the right flowers can take some time, so please allow for that when planning your gift. All in all, most recreations take 2-4 weeks, which means you are just 2-4 weeks away from awesome gift giving. Silk Wedding Flowers with Rustic Romance: Burlap and Lace

When I received Trisha's Free Bride's Checklist, I instantly got an idea of what she hoped for in her silk wedding flowers. Her colors were slate blue, charcoal grey, and ivory with burlap accents.  She left the comment that she wasn't look for anything, "too fancy," and she liked an "earthy and natural," look. If you spend any time on Pinterest, then you've probably noticed the greenery trend. Mainly, that lots of bouquets have tons of greenery. It gives a lush feel to a bouquet, when done right. Trisha and I talked over email and decided that Seeded Eucalyptus and Lamb's Ear would be the perfect combination of lushness and softness.

Silk Bridal Bouquet

For the bridesmaids, we paired down the size, keeping the flowers the same. It kept the look cohesive but allowed the bridal bouquet to stand out.

Toss bouquet (left) and bridesmaid bouquet (right).

Wondering about that great slate blue color? I found that Delphinium and Thistle were a perfect match for Trisha's color scheme. The lamb's ear brought in a touch of gray without really going the whole nine yards. And you can't go wrong with Roses! Tie it all off with some burlap and lace and you've got yourself rustic and romantic all in one package. Like what you see? Send in a Free Bride's Checklist to get a quote on silk wedding flowers.

Destination Wedding Bridal Bouquet Recreation

In just a month's time, or less, you can be like Chris--a thoughtful, romantic, creative husband who surprised his wife with a unique and touching anniversary gift. All it takes is a photo or two, a desire to be an awesome gift giver and well, ahem, payment. But that's all, I promise!

Bridal Bouquet Recreation in Silk Flowers

Original Bridal Bouquet

Since Chris got married in Hawaii, he wasn't too sure of the flowers from the bouquet. Thanks to an old photo with his invoice, we were able to figure out some of the flowers tucked into the bouquet. However, since it was Hawaii, I could see that some of the flowers were different from the invoice, probably fresh-picked from the grounds of their resort. Thanks to the invoice and the picture, we were able to piece it all together and do a bridal bouquet recreation in silk flowers in just a few weeks time for Chris' anniversary dinner.

If you are looking for that special gift, for that special someone, search no further! Send me your pictures and let's get started!

Bridal Review: Choosing Silk Flowers

Remember Meaghan's story? She was one of the 11 bridesmaids in her friend's wedding and carried one of my bouquets.  Having seen the flower quality in person and heard from Elizabeth about the process and the savings of using silk flowers, she decided it was the right way to go for her wedding.

Here are some photographs of Meaghan's big day, shot by MJO Photography out of Warren, Ohio. Enjoy!

Working with Erin was so wonderful! I had seen her work for a friend’s wedding I was in and loved it. Since I live several states away, I was a little worried with how to communicate my vision for the bouquets. Erin made the process very simple and exceeded my expectations! Her ideas were extremely helpful and the flowers came out better than I could have imagined! When I got the flowers and got to look at them in person for the first time, my mom and I were stunned with how gorgeous they were. Guests were also amazed at how wonderful they looked and couldn’t believe they weren’t real! I’m so happy I chose Erin to make my bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres. I’m thrilled to have my bridal bouquet to enjoy for years to come!

Planning Wedding Flowers In Advance

You may have read my post about how to make your wedding more Stress Free, so it goes without saying that you might want to see how that turned out for our lovely bride Heather. She was kind enough to send me photos from her big day, courtesy of {insert photographer's info}. Take a look!

A lovely lineup!

Heather did a great job communicating her likes and dislikes as well as her style and theme. We were able to design, together, her dream flowers for her beautiful fall wedding, well in advance. That allowed her to be available to make other decisions in the process of planning the many other details of her wedding. As you can see by the smiles on their faces, our plan worked:)

Thank you so much for being an important part of our special day all the way from Minnesota.

Happily Ever After Her Big Day

In November I shared with you all the details of Leanna's beautiful Navy, Blush and Gold Wedding flowers. So when I received an email from her right after Christmas with photographs from her wedding, it felt like another present I found under the tree. I'm happy to share the wonderful work of her photographer, Pervez Taufiq and give you a peek into her gorgeous flowers in action.

The lovely wedding party in their various shades of navy.

One of the bridesmaid bouquets.

There are so many extras that go into wedding decor that many couples forget you can use flowers in a variety of places for added impact. One of the easier and less expensive ways to incorporate your wedding flowers is on your cake. Leanna chose to have me create some small clusters to add to the layers of her cake. The simple design of the ribbon and the delicacy of the flowers is a great combination.

The contrast of the bridal bouquet is stunning!

If you are looking for impact on a bigger scale, centerpieces might be the way to go. Leanna's two styles of centerpieces were custom designed for the bowls and vases she had already purchased. They not only looked cohesive, but were a great romantic touch to her chevron tables linens and gold flatware.  Leanna did a great job tying it all together!

Did I mention that Leanna lives across the country from me? We did this entirely over email! If you like the sound of that and are looking for affordable options for centerpieces or bouquets, silk flowers might be your jam. Head on over to site to our fill out the Free Bride's Checklist for a quote delivered to your inbox without adding a single appointment to your calendar.

Remembering and Celebrating-Minneapolis Bouquet Recreations

Being a part of some big moments in the lives of strangers is a pretty unique experience.  There are many emails that have brought me to tears and this is one of them:

Hi Erin!! Sorry about the delay in getting back to u!!!!! As you know It was such a hard day to plan not knowing what we should do for celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary with my dad’s passing a few months ago. Do we celebrate? acknowledge? Forget about it? But our gift and a little surprise were priceless! We started out with a few family members and went to visit my dads grave site at the Lincoln memorial cemetary. The place in itself is so beautiful plus there were flags everywhere due to it being Veterans Day. As we stood around and prayed I handed my mom the gold box (see below pictures) she cried as she read it and opened it up and placed the boutonniere on my dad’s grave. It was the sweetest moment ever. I then opened up a bottle of champagne and toasted my parents and even shared some with my dad. As sad as it sounds it was beautiful and my gift was just the right touch! We proceeded to go back to my moms house for her friends wanted to stop by for their support. The door bell kept ringing and then it was time for the last guest to arrive with his gift, she answers the door and there is my son, her first born grandchild (my boy who attends U of M) standing there with her wedding flowers!!!! She couldn’t believe it and stood there crying and hugging him! He hadn’t been home since May!!!! She was in her glory! It could of been such a sad sad day but all my little touches were just the trick to praise the day instead of dreading it. I also had a cake made to resemble the flowers you put together for me! Lastly is a photo of my mom with what’s left of her wedding party. Thank you so much for bringing so much happiness into what could of been such a sad day! We were able to honor both my parents as if they were both here with us! Before he passed he had me promise that I would always look after her and I think he would be very pleased with how I’m doing and my continuation of keeping his memory alive in good times and bad....

Forever thankful,
— Kelly R. and Family

This might be one of my favorite events to have been a part of. I just love the way Kelly thought out the details and took into consideration what her mom, and her dad, would want on such a big day. If you want to hear about the process, check out this post about recreating her mother's wedding bouquet from 1966.

The original bouquet.

Honoring Your Parents - Minneapolis Wedding Flower Recreation

Not long ago, I received an email from Kelly, who was working to come up with a gift for her mother's upcoming golden anniversary. She wanted to honor her mother on such a special day but also acknowledge her father, who had passed away. She had the touching idea to have her mother's wedding bouquet recreated in silk flowers as well has her father's boutonniere to place at his grave. I was honored to be asked to create such meaningful and gifts. Kelly had to be sneaky and take cell phone pictures of her mother's wedding photographs without raising any questions. I received the pictures and got to work. We changed a few aspects of the original design to account for this becoming an arrangement for a vase. I also added sheer gold ribbon since it's the golden anniversary. Take a look!

Phalaenopsis Orchids, Lily of the Valley, and Ivy

Marriage is something to be honored and upheld, despite death. I love that Kelly desired to honor both of her parents and their marriage with such a special and heartfelt gift.

Navy, Blush and Gold Minneapolis Wedding Bouquets

This year has been one of inspiring color combinations, unique textures and classic designs. I want to show you one today that was a romantic navy, blush pink and gold wedding.

Leanna sent me a slew of pictures earlier in the year to show me her inspiration for her wedding flowers. The navy components were striking, the blush pinks were soft and the gold was a beautiful accent to bring it all together. She wanted the bridal bouquet to be set apart from the bridesmaids, but still have a cohesive look with all the arrangements.

Ivory Roses, Blueberries and Blue Thistle

The bridesmaids carried another collection of flowers that incorporated texture and charm.

Blush Pink Roses and Hydrangea, White Astilbe and White Freesia

The boutonnieres and corsages were a variety of styles and colors, all coordinating with each other but staying within the realm of Leanna's scheme. The Blue Thistle made everything pop!

Centerpieces were also a great option for Leanna's wedding - coordinating with the rest of her flowers and more affordable than fresh arrangement. She was able to customize two different styles of centerpieces for the vases she had already purchased.

If you thought floral centerpieces were out of range for your upcoming wedding, you're not alone. Most fresh flower centerpieces are! Don't sacrifice your budget for your vision! Contact me,  a Minneapolis silk florist, to find out how we can bring that dream to life.

Minneapolis Wedding Bouquet Recreation Testimonial

I got an email from Nick just a few shorts week ago. He had been on the search of a unique anniversary gift for his wife and came across my blog post of a bouquet recreation I had done a few years ago. Nick sent pictures from his wedding day in a variety of angles so I was sure to catch the various details. With photographs in hand, I set to work on the bridal bouquet recreation using high quality, fresh touch Roses, Baby's Breath and satin ribbon. Here's how it turned out!

Wedding Flowers for Destination Weddings

In the 11 years that I've been in the silk flowers business, I've done a number of destination weddings. And silk flowers are perfect for this scenario.

Often times the resorts offer packages with generic bouquets that you can't be sure of until you get there. By using custom silk wedding flowers for destination weddings, you know exactly what you're going to get.

Kristin was the cousin I mentioned in this destination wedding post who referred her cousin Stephanie to me to create her ultra realistic rose and calla lily wedding flowers.

Well, now it's Kristin's turn!

Kristin wanted bright and beautiful flowers in fuchsia lime green tones for her destination wedding that's coming up. She really liked the look of another destination wedding that I created flowers for, so we used some of those same style elements to create her look. Take a look!

The destination wedding bridal bouquet includes Lime Orchids, Pink Calla Lilies, Pink Hydrangea, and deep pink Orchids.

Destination wedding corsages

We kept the boutonnieres simple and added some bling to the bridal bouquet. A girl's gotta shine!

Destination wedding bouquet bling

The bridesmaid bouquets featured oh-so-tropical lime green Orchids and pink Calla Lilies and we tied them off with lime satin ribbon. A stunning combination!

Destination Wedding Bridal Bouquet, Bridesmaid Bouquet, Toss Bouquet

I know I probably sound like a broken record, but the benefits of silk flowers are not something to overlook! Kristin was able to be a part of the design process, getting the look she wanted, with the confidence that it was going to be exactly what she ordered! Now in traveling to her wedding paradise, she has no worries about having beautiful flowers to accent her big day.

Our Best Online Flowers Review is You!

Getting your wedding flowers made online sounds risky. That's why we ask our brides to review us to help give you the confidence that your flowers will be the best possible wedding flowers you can purchase online: see our best online flowers reviews from brides like you.

We've all seen them done badly in one form or another, but custom silk wedding flowers have come a long way in recent years and are now often the best choice for picky brides.

It's easier than ever to access an online variety of flowers, colors, and styles that are either out of season or out of budget. But one of the major roadblocks to choosing silk flowers is the fact that most brides haven't seen them done well.

Which is why great reviews are a bride's best friend.

That really goes for any vendor you are looking into, be sure to ask other newly married friends and family members who recently planned an event. Even Facebook and Google are good outlets for sourcing information about the vendors you are looking into.

The best type of referral of all, the holy grail of reviews is when you have already carried one of my custom silk wedding bouquets down the aisle... no not in your own wedding, but in a friend's!

And that's where I bring you today. Meaghan was one of 11 (!) bridesmaids in Elizabeth and Thomas' wedding last year.  She had the unique opportunity of seeing my work first hand and even taking it home with her! When it was her turn to start researching her wedding vendors, she already had an idea of the quality of my work, which means I didn't have to try and convince her of the benefits of custom silk wedding flowers. Her style was rustic, romantic and wild-flowery with touches of lace and burlap, and accents in lavender and blue. We talked through her ideas and I came up with designs that complemented her DIY centerpieces that she already had planned out. Take a look at the finished products!

Lavender, Delphinium, Baby's Breath, Stock, Astilbe

Meaghan was able to have complete confidence in my ability to see her vision to completion, and in just a few short days she will have her flowers delivered to her doorstop in plenty of time for her May 15 wedding.

Purple flowers come in purple, purple...purple?

One of the great joys in life is variety; what we eat, how we dress, what we listen to on the radio. Weddings are just another avenue in which variety comes into play. Take for example the color purple. We all know there are a multitude of different shades of purple like lavender, lilac, eggplant, plum, periwinkle, violet, royal purple and amethyst to name a few. But it's easy to forget that we can take advantage of the beautiful tints within our wedding decor without having everything matchy-matchy. Including purple flowers of varying shades of one color makes for a classic and visually interesting bouquet.

Contact Love is Blooming, a Minneapolis based silk florist, to create variety in your wedding through your bouquets and flower arrangements.

Stress Free Wedding

Previewing Your Custom Wedding Flowers:

While no one can guarantee a stress free wedding, here's one secret that will help you breathe easy come your wedding day.

You can eliminate flower surprises.

Ask around, flower issues can abound at weddings: wrong colors, wilting flowers, bouquets that are too big or too small, or flowers you have to sell the farm to buy that you just don't love!

Eliminate all that stress by being able to preview your flowers.

Booking any wedding vendor takes a certain amount of faith: you pay them a (possibly) large deposit and hope that they are going to do what they say. In many cases, you meet with the vendors to discuss details but the "finished" product won't be in hand until your wedding day.  I've encountered enough brides to know, all they want is their vision come to life. For something like your wedding flowers that appear in most pictures during the ceremony and with the bridal party, you most certainly want it done right. Do you see where I'm going with this?

Bride Heather submitted her Free Bride's Checklist in September of last year. We discussed her ideas and style exclusively over email. The great thing about this process is that I am able to send pictures of the flowers I'll be using for Heather's bouquets before she makes any sort of financial commitment. After giving me the green light on all my ideas and flower suggestions, she sent in her deposit. Shortly thereafter, I was able to send her this photo:

I could almost hear Heather's squeals through my email... she was that thrilled to see her flowers already. While this is not a finished product, it was super exciting to be able to send her this picture more than 8 months before her wedding. When I actually start the creative work on her custom wedding bouquets, I'll send her more pictures so she can give feedback on the shape and overall look of her flowers.

No surprises, no mistakes, no buyer's remorse!

If being a part of the design process and knowing what you're getting ahead of time sounds appealing to you, send me an email or fill out the checklist for a free quote today!

If you're still on the fence about ordering Custom Silk Wedding Flowers, check out what others have to say about working with Minneapolis based Love Is Blooming. So, knock out the stress and enjoy your big day!

Flannel Wedding

I posted about Jessica's flannel wedding flowers on an unseasonably warm January day when I was able to take some outdoorsy pictures in flannel to match the style of her rustic bouquets. Jessica and her new husband, Troy, were thoughtful enough to pass along some photographs from their big day. Take a peek!

Photo courtesy of Tim Larsen Photography

Flannel and Sorels? A true northern Minnesota wedding if I've ever seen one! I love Jessica's unique style and the personal touches she put on her wedding and her flowers. From the great color combination to the birch wrapped stems, these flowers have been some of my absolute favorites. I might start carrying a picture of them in my wallet. ;) No wonder the flannel wedding is catching on!

Jessica and Troy are not only stylish, but smart. Here you can see that instead of purchasing separate table arrangements for the head table they used the bouquets which perfectly matched the birch wood, pine branch and wood Mr. and Mrs. signs. They simply used what they already had to "spruce" up their table. See what I did there?

Here's what Jessica had to say about working with Love Is Blooming:

The flowers were perfect for our February wedding! The photographer even thought they were real until I told him about halfway through that they were silk. I love that I can keep it in a vase in our home and they still look as great as the day they came! Here are some pictures of them from our wedding. Thanks again!
— Jessica and Troy

As always, the photographers who so graciously lend me their work deserve a Paul Bunyan size thank you! Tim of Tim Larsen Photography did an amazing job capturing this flannel wedding.  If you are in his neck of the woods, contact him to find out how to book him for your Northern Minnesota Wedding.
