Spring Colors in Wildflower Silk Bridal Bouquet

I’m excited to share with you a truly custom silk bridal bouquet! Generally when bride’s reach out to me, they have a good idea of what they would like based on a few inspiration photos. From there, we talk about what aspects they love, what colors they want to include and they usually do some combining of those ideas and photos to customize the bouquets. In Sara’s case, she sent me some photos but also said that she was “open to suggestion.” I decided to take a risk and come up with a design from scratch. I knew that she wanted a wildflower look with pops of orange, blue, purple, yellow and some greenery. I gathered up some sample stems I had on hand and sent a photo to get her thoughts. And then I held my breath, and…

She loved it all!

Sara gave me the same freedom with the boutonnieres and these were super fun. I used the same mix of flowers and colors but varied the mix and greenery to give each guy a custom look.

I’d never ask anyone to take a gamble on their wedding flowers, but there’s no rule about sticking to a specific look or color scheme. Shotgun Shell Boutonniere

To some brides, the Bridal Bouquet is the most important piece of the puzzle, and the rest falls in line behind.  But for others, it is just important for their to be personality in their boutonnieres and corsages as it is in their bouquets. These shotgun shell boutonnieres demonstrate a level of uniqueness that can be added to personal flowers that you might not have the flexibility with when working with whole bouquets. 

Bride Elizabeth was having a country-themed wedding that had some really fun details.  After talking through her ideas, I received a package in the mail with several custom painted shotgun shells.  Yes, you read that right, shotgun shells.  My job was to incorporate them into a few of the boutonnieres as a nod to her fiancee and his friends.  We used some summery white Daisies and Baby's Breath and a touch of some small coral accent flowers.  The shell still needed a little customization, so I wrapped some twine around a section in the center and it was the perfect added touch.  Take a look!

Elizabeth wanted a slightly more feminine look for the corsages so I designed the classic wrist corsage with white Daisies and Roses, Coral Roses and small accent flowers.  As with most of my mothers' corsages, I tossed in my signature rhinestone spray for some tasteful sparkle and tied it off with some delicate sheer ribbon.

Malibu Sunset | Blue & Orange Wedding Flowers

Does that title make anyone else think about your 90's era Barbie dolls?  WHATever! (said with a valley girl accent)

Kristi and I met for her consultation and she reminded me that we had met waaaaaaaay back in January of 2010 at the Maple Grove Bridal Expo.  Her future mother-in-law had been the one to organize the whole shebang and had kept my contact info. Kinda gave me the warm fuzzies.

Kristi's had a unique situation for her orange, Malibu blue, and ivory wedding.  She really wanted a fresh flower bouquet for herself but wanted to use the more budget-friendly silks for everything else.  Though this is a less conventional route, it's not at all a problem!

When it came to the actual flowers, she wasn't picky about the type, but really wanted to find flowers in the Malibu color. I searched through my many resources and found these pretty, full-petal daisies in the perfect shade. The roses were a shade of orange that wasn't too harsh and really complemented the Malibu flowers. We tossed in some Stephanotis for a hint of ivory and finished the bouquets up with silver satin ribbon.  Beautiful!

The boutonnieres and corsage matched in color, but we chose a different flower for the father's and mother's just to set them apart a little bit.

Bold and Beautiful silk wedding flowers: Part 4

These bouquets were so fun to make! Because of the variety of flowers, shapes, textures, and colors, these little beauties were so interesting to the eye and sassy too. While I tried to make all the bridesmaids bouquets similar, they aren't cookie cutter--they are handmade after all. That amounted to each bouquet having a little bit of its' own personality.

At about 7" in diameter, the girls have a nice sized bouquet featuring Nikki's chosen flowers wrapped with a matching sheer purple ribbon. Cute!

Bridal Bouquet:

Nikki wanted her bouquet to stand out from the crowd, so to speak, so we added in some ivory open roses to give it that hint of "bridal-ness." The orchids we used were a different variety than we used in her other arrangements, but their scale offered a bigger impact while allowing us to use fewer in the bouquet.

Ivory ribbon wrapped down the stem gave it the finishing touch.

Nikki wasn't sure what flowers she wanted when she came to me, and we had to do a little hunting to find the perfect tangerine colored flowers. But our persistence paid off as we discovered some beautiful orchids to match her colorful and unique arrangements.

Bold and Beautiful-Part3

There are usually a few extra arrangements that a bride wants to include in her design scape. Nikki had a few things she wanted, including an arrangement to honor her late Grandparents and the ever fun and popular toss bouquet. Take a look at how we incorporated her flowers into these two unique arrangements.

Grandparent's Arrangement:

Including all the flowers used in her arrangements, we created a beautiful accent piece for the ceremony site--something that can be called to the attention of her guests as an appropriate and thoughtful gesture of remembrance. I used a 7" silver julep cup for the vase to give it height, but also an elegant look.

Toss Bouquet:

This little clutch bouquet is cute and a nice keepsake for whichever lucky lady walks away with it. The toss bouquet is a fun tradition most brides choose to include in their wedding festivities. Nikki's toss bouquet incorporated the daisies that appeared throughout her wedding flowers, but no other flowers. It was a darling little bouquet that fit with the flow, but was completely different than all the other bouquets. Sweet and simple!

Bold and Beautiful - Part1

As you may have noticed, purple has been a recurring theme in many of the weddings I've done this year. There have been all sorts of beautiful shades showing up in the flowers--lilac, lavender, aubergine, and eggplant. My brides and I have found all sorts of ways to match their color choices, and if you haven't guessed by now, I'm about to show you another wedding featuring purple!
Nikki, another local bride, came to me with a fun and bold color palette. Her girls are going to wear "tangerine" and she also wanted some purple and lime green thrown into the mix. We went back to the ever popular button mums for the lime factor, found some beautiful fresh touch orchids for the tangerine twist, we hunted down some delicious rich daisies for our purple accent, and then included green and white roses to fill everything out.

These flowers were fun, splashy, and full of zest, just like the happy couple.

Nicole's Reveal: Spring is in the air!

Last week I welcomed some of my newest brides, including Nicole, a local gal who saw my flowers at her sister's wedding. During our consultation, Nicole mentioned that she wanted bright colors, flowers that brought Spring to mind, and some chic Bare grass detailing.
