Friday the 13th Silk Wedding Flowers - Part 1

Amanda reached out to me for custom silk wedding flowers for their Friday the 13th wedding. Her colors were forest green, black and ivory and in her words, they were, “going for a spooky/gothic vibe.” I’m actually going to be sharing in two parts because Amanda and her husband had a small ceremony here in Minneapolis and then a private ceremony out in the Black Hills. So today, let’s take a look at some moody, mysterious and gothic flowers, photographed by the very talented Winsome Photography.

Amanda sent me some great inspiration photos that helped me suggest a great mix of flowers and greenery for her bouquet. We settled on a round handtied style bouquet with a mix of sand Roses, black Dahlia, black Skimmia, ivory Gardenia, 3 types of Eucalyptus and a single peach Rose that Amanda had requested as a special accent. She also really wanted to some ivory pearls mixed in and I found some lovely clusters that added texture and a bit of shine to the bouquet.

To bring in the gothic theme even more, our creative couple requested the boutonniere include a raven skull. Thankfully, they found that because I wouldn’t even know where to look! But it was the perfect size to add a touch of flowers and greenery to and really seal the deal on the gothic vibe.

While the ceremony had to be moved indoors due to rain, they were able to get some pretty great city-scape photos of St. Paul.

I love that they just went with the flow of the day and made it work! Amanda even made her own ceremony arrangement knowing they would have to move things indoors. And you can see in these photos that they were really focusing on what was important, each other!

Not to be left out from the big day, their two sweet puppies got to be part of the action! I created a custom floral dog collar that incorporated their colors and greenery. Since she was still growing, I was able to make it adjustable so account for all that fluff!

This was such a fun wedding to create flowers for. Check back later this week to see part two with some stunning destination wedding photos from their private ceremony in the Black Hills of South Dakota!

Cascading Round Handtied Bouquet Recreation - Reveal and Review

Today’s bouquet recreation is a dramatic round handtied bouquet with draping Amaranthus! What a beauty! Laura sent me some photos of her beautiful bouquet in shades of red and burgundy and nude pink, and I was able to examine each photo for all the elements that needed to show up in her recreation. Let’s take a look at the recreation alongside some photos by Denis Gostev Photography.

Laura sent me the write up from her florist that listed red Mums, dark red Roses, burgundy Snapdragon, burgundy Amaranthus, champagne Sahara Roses, seeded Eucalyptus and gold painted Hypericum Berries. It was such a beautiful bouquet, full of drama and texture and richness!

Such an amazing service! Erin did an amazing job at flawlessly replicating my wedding bouquet with silk flowers. She was very easy to work with as well. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to re-experience the joy of their wedding bouquet!
