Blending Themes Within a Wedding- Rustic and Tropical Silk Wedding Flowers

After 16 years of marriage, I can say with certainty that marriage takes a lot of blending of ideas, plans, and opinions. Sometimes we don’t realize that it actually starts long before you say, “I do.” So when you sit down together to talk about the vision for your wedding day, don’t be surprised if you both have different ideas. But don’t panic! Blending themes within a wedding isn’t as hard as it sounds! These silk wedding flowers are a great example of taking two different ideas and incorporating them into custom arrangements that fit the bride and groom.

Josie wanted a mix of Lilies and Calla Lilies and had some bright and fun colors as well. Her teal, orange and purple theme colors would be used in their centerpieces and she wanted to incorporate them in her ceremony flowers as well. The bridal bouquet was a mix of white Garden Lilies, ivory Calla Lilies, orange and purple Dendrobium Orchids and teal mini Phalaenopsis orchids. Her summer-y bouquet was a combination of all the inspiration photos she sent me. Though this bouquet looks quite tropical, Josie wanted to include a rustic element. Twine is a great way to accent any bouquet that you want to look a little more organic and rustic.

For the bridesmaid bouquets, we used the same variety of flowers, but in a handtied style. With their bouquets, the twine was a little more front and center, but still kept everything on theme.

For the toss bouquet, I scaled everything back, including using a different orange flower that fit the overall size of the bouquet much better.

The pin on corsages were all similar, with subtle differences to set apart the mothers, grandmothers and attendants. Again, the twine was a fun way to keep these bright and happy corsages a little more earthy.

Josie and her groom did a great job personalizing their flowers. One way they did this was to send me spent shotgun shells and turkey feathers for their boutonnieres. These accessories were a fun way to give a nod to the family’s hunting hobby. If you’ve been around my blog long enough, you may remember the last time I did some custom boutonnieres with shotgun shells.

Groom’s and Groomsman’s Boutonniere

Even the littlest bridal party member wasn’t left out. The ring bearer boutonniere might have been too small for a shotgun shell, but it wasn’t too small for a turkey feather!

Blending bright flowers with rustic accents isn’t a new idea. In fact I did it once before for Tracy’s Rustic Barn Wedding Flowers. Maybe you have a few ideas that you aren’t sure how to combine to make your wedding day truly unique. That’s where I come in! Custom Silk Flower Arrangement for Special Occasions

There are quite a few reasons why fresh flowers may not be an option. Wanda contacted me about a family member she wanted to send flowers to who was going through cancer treatment. She wasn’t able to be around fresh flowers, so Wanda though silk flowers would be a great option, and she was right. She gave me a few parameters and her budget and I got to work designing a custom arrangement for her.

Wanda enjoyed the simple process so much that a few weeks later she placed an order for a graduation gift that would double as dorm room decor and a sympathy arrangement to be delivered after a funeral.

This graduation arrangement would need to be bright and fun for a young lady heading off to college. I used corals, pinks and a touch of yellow. Wanda requested some pinks and Baby’s Breath, so I was sure to include those elements. The geometric accent vase makes for a floral arrangement that is both modern and feminine.

A sympathy arrangement can be bright and striking, but for something that stays in the home, a more subtle look seemed appropriate. I used a blend of mauve, pink, and ivory flowers with greenery in a more classically styled vase for an arrangement meant to be a sweet reminder of a loved one lost.

This last arrangement was a recent order from Wanda for her Great Aunt who needed a little cheering up in her care facility. With all of the restrictions happening, Wanda wanted a bright spot in her Great Aunt’s room. A custom silk flower arrangement is a great way to do just that!
